Penny Saeger was notorious for refusing to embrace the process of “My 600-Lb Life” by changing her diet and lifestyle. Ever since she was young, Saeger turned to food for comfort, and she continued to gain weight through adulthood, weighing 530 pounds when she started “My 600-Lb Life.”
Saeger refused to monitor her food portions, didn’t follow her strict diet, and didn’t exercise, which led to Dr. Now accusing her of being “delusional” about her situation. Despite the initial reluctance, Saeger did lose the required 40 pounds and proceeded with gastric bypass surgery, but she didn’t watch her diet afterwards and was at risk of gaining it all back.
Saeger left the show at 494 pounds, but she remained upbeat, saying her life was more positive “without someone telling me I'm not doing a good job.” In the subsequent years, Saeger hasn't provided any insight into her weight loss or mindset, but she has posted on social media to celebrate her anniversary or share pictures of her son.
