Many people believe Prince William and Kate Middleton met at St. Andrews University in Scotland, where they both studied. While their relationship began in college, the two had met many years prior.
When they were nine years old, the couple met for the first time. Katie Nicholl writes in her book "Kate: The Future Queen" that the two first saw each other while their schools' hockey teams were playing against each other.
The pair met as adults in 2001, and they had been dating for quite some time before the media and the general public became aware of their relationship. Both studied art history, which made them have some of the same classes, and they also shared a residence hall.
While Prince William and Kate Middleton's life may appear to be perfect, every relationship has its setbacks. They broke up in 2004, and then again in 2007, blaming the split on their young age and the process of growing up and finding oneself.
Prince William and Kate Middleton married on April 29, 2011, and had three children: Prince George in 2013, Princess Charlotte in 2015, and Prince Louis in 2018. They did, after all, live happily ever after.
