The news of Prince William and Rose Hanbury’s alleged affair was reported in April 2019, but it had been tabloid fodder for at least a year. Many people questioned if Prince William was following in his father’s footsteps of infidelity.
The start of rumors
According to rumors, Prince William’s alleged affair unfolded when wife Kate Middleton was pregnant with their third child. When Middleton heard the rumors, she confronted her husband, but he reportedly “just laughed it off saying there was nothing to it.”
Are they just rumors?
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s relationship dates back to 2003, but they split in 2007, before finding their way back to each other a few months later. During their break, an anonymous source told the Daily Mail that William “has always had a roving eye.”
The prince’s loyalty
In 2016, an article by Hello! revealed that Hanbury and her husband, David Cholmondeley, lived just three miles away from Middleton and Prince William’s residence. The proximity led to a natural friendship between the two couples, which included double dates, weddings, and playdates for their children.
New friends
When the scandal erupted, Kate Middleton allegedly took action and told her husband to stay away from Hanbury and her husband, even after Prince William denied the affair. A source said, “William wants to play peacemaker […] But Kate has been clear that she doesn't want to see them any more."
