Fans of “The Vampire Diaries” were captivated by its story, but it was the romances on and off the show that kept them coming back. The relationship of Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder had a hold on the fans, especially after seeing them win a People’s Choice Award in 2014 for Favorite On-Screen Chemistry.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end, and their romance fizzled out for unknown reasons. Sources say Dobrev “wanted to experience other things,” but she continues to remain friends with Somerhalder.

Nina and Ian’s maturity has pushed them to move on and find new love. Ian’s marriage to “Twilight'' star Nikki Reed, a friend of Nina, raised questions from fans wondering if Nikki and Nina are still friends.

While Nina didn’t attend Ian and Nikki’s wedding due to it being "too awkward," Nina claims, “Why can’t everyone be friends? I think they have a beautiful baby, and they are happy and so am I.” Nina has been officially dating snowboarder Shaun White since 2020.
