Designers' Challenge
In every episode of this show, three interior designers would come up with a renovation idea for a homeowner who picked which custom look fits their needs best.
Host Chris Harrison helped us follow along as the selected design team completely transformed the room, creating an exciting and sometimes nail-biting series.
Holmes On Homes
On Mike Holmes's first HGTV series, he would expose shoddy renovation practices and save homeowners from faulty electrical, plumbing, and carpentry work.
He showcased his skills without cutting corners and was a widely respected handyman for years, continuing to star in and produce shows long after this one ended in 2009.
Gardening By The Yard
Between 1996 and 2009, this was must-watch television for green-thumbed HGTV viewers until ratings dipped, leading to its cancelation after 19 seasons.
The lighthearted series centered around gardening guru Paul James, who tended to his organic garden and revealed his gardening tips and tricks.
Decorating Cents
This fun show ran for 32 seasons between 1997 and 2009. Host Joan Steffend and the episode's guest designer worked together to remodel entire rooms for under $500.
While rearranging furniture and repurposing items, Steffend was down-to-earth and likable, and we could always do with some more friendly faces with economic sense on our screens.
Secrets From A Stylist
This short-lived gem had only two seasons and a special. Focused on homeowners who needed decor guidance, host Emily Henderson helped transform their homes.
It was heartwarming and inspiring to see homeowners get styles they'd always dreamed of while reminding viewers how to refresh, modernize, and make the best use of our spaces.
