The man behind "the most iconic voice in comedy," Gilbert Gottfried, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, as reported by his family. For many decades, Gottfried used his matchless voice to define his career, and he managed to amass a small fortune doing so.
Gottfried started out modestly with stand-up comedy, and he began making TV and movie appearances during the ‘80s and ‘90s, including an iconic turn as Iago in Disney’s “Aladdin.” He continued to appear on late-night comedy shows and Comedy Central roasts until shortly before his death at age 67.
The comedian and actor married music executive Dara Kravitz in 2007, and the couple had two children together. At the time of his death, Gottfried lived with his family in an updated apartment in New York City’s upscale Chelsea neighborhood, and they could do so comfortably, as his net worth was $8 million.
