What Really Happened To Emma Barber On The Bold And The Beautiful?
Nia Sioux is best known for her time on the hit television show "Dance Moms," on which she appeared for seven seasons. The 21-year-old talent also starred in several music videos showcasing her dance skills before leaving that part of her life behind to pursue other interests. In 2018, Sioux decided to try her hand at acting and was cast on "The Bold and the Beautiful" as a new Forrester Creations intern named Emma Barber. Though she was originally cast in a guest-starring role, she quickly became a recurring character, and was then offered a contract as a series regular (via Entertainment Weekly). Since her time on the soap ended in 2019, she has gone on to appear in the show "Sunnyside Up" and the Lifetime movie "Imperfect High."
During her time on daytime, Sioux's character Emma struck up a romance with fellow intern Xander Avant (Adain Bradley) and later became instrumental in the reveal that Hope Logan's (Annika Noelle) presumed-dead baby was actually alive and being raised by Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), per Soaps in Depth. Though her time on the show was relatively short, Emma's presence went on to have a ripple effect in the lives of several major characters.
Emma's time at Forrester Creations was turbulent
Emma Barber was first introduced to "The Bold and the Beautiful" viewers as one of the new teenage interns at Forrester Creations. She adored Hope Logan and was thrilled to be working on the new Hope for the Future line in her internship position with her idol. In an effort to liven up the runway show for the models, Emma suggested introducing choreography, which allowed actress Nia Sioux to show off her dance skills (via Soap Central). However, Emma was so eager to prove herself that she landed in hot water when she was caught taking photos of some of the designs. Although she was only trying to get insight for her choreography, Maya Avant (Karla Mosley) thought she was trying to steal Forrester Creations' designs for her uncle Justin Barber (Aaron D. Spears) who worked at rival company, Spencer Publications.
Though Emma was able to convince everyone that her motives were pure, she wasn't out of the woods yet. She was then fingered as the person behind a slew of threatening messages about Hope that were left on the Hope for the Future website (via Soaps in Depth). Distraught at the thought that anyone could believe she would betray her idol in this way, Emma became desperate to prove her innocence. She enlisted the help of fellow intern Xander Avant who helped her investigate. The pair discovered that it was Xander's ex-girlfriend Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes) who was behind the messages, and Emma's name was ultimately cleared.
Emma Barber got involved with Xander Avant
It wasn't long after Emma Barber's arrival at Forrester Creations that she became interested in the handsome Xander Avant (via Soap Central). The two interns struck up a flirtation and Emma was even more endeared to Xander when he stuck up for her following her mishap with the design photos. Eventually the two began dating, but their new relationship wasn't without drama for long. Soon, Xander's ex-girlfriend Zoe Buckingham arrived in town, having followed Xander from London. She was determined to win back her man and even got a job at Forrester Creations as a model.
Zoe did everything in her power to undermine Emma, including setting her up to take the fall for her own online bullying. Though he wasn't able to get Emma kicked out of her internship, she did manage to end her relationship. Emma had wanted to take things slow with Xander and let him know on several occasions that she wasn't ready to sleep with him (via Soaps). Zoe, however, was willing to give Xander anything he wanted and eventually he left Emma to give his ex another chance. Though Emma claimed that she was supportive of Xander's decision, she was clearly jealous of the relationship between him and Zoe.
Emma Barber gave her life while trying to expose the truth
In 2019, Emma Barber overheard Xander Avant and Zoe Buckingham discussing Hope Logan's baby, who everyone believed was stillborn, according to Soaps in Depth. However, through this conversation, Emma learned that Hope's daughter was actually alive and was none other than the baby that Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) had adopted — with the help of Zoe's father Dr. Reese Buckingham (Wayne Brady).
Emma immediately wanted to tell Hope the truth and save her from the pain of grieving her child, but Steffy's brother Thomas Forrester cornered her at Forrester Creations, determined to keep the secret from coming out (via Soaps). Emma was not deterred by Thomas' threats of violence and swiftly left to find Hope. Thomas followed in his car, tailgating Emma and using his lights to blind her while driving. Eventually, Thomas rear-ended Emma on purpose, causing her to lose control of her car and drive off of a cliffside. He decided against calling emergency services and left the teenage girl to die, per SoapHub. Despite Thomas' homicidal actions, the truth about the baby did come out shortly after and Steffy was forced to give her back to Hope. Unfortunately, that did little to ease the pain of Emma's family and friends who would be grieving her loss for years to come.
