Could Regé-Jean Page Return For Season 3 Of Bridgerton?

The first season of "Bridgerton" was a huge hit among fans — in fact, it was Netflix's most successful hit ever, as categorized by Vanity Fair. The regency-era series captivated viewers with its amazing costumes, vibrant colors, and historic charm. However, the show also provided a modern twist with its storylines and musical choices, per Saloon. Fans not only fell in love with the gorgeous scenery, interesting characters, and steamy storylines, but were blessed with on-screen diversity to boot.

Of course, the two main characters, Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset (portrayed by Regé-Jean Page), stole the show. Simon and Daphne's electric chemistry was nearly palpable as viewers watched the pair fall head over heels in love. Throughout the episodes, Simon and Daphne's relationship gave fans so much emotion (as well as raw and powerful physical scenes) to drool over — does everyone remember Season 1 Episode 6? Page became an overnight heartthrob and it seemed that fans couldn't get enough of his character.

When Season 2 of "Bridgerton" was announced, viewers were thrilled that they would be transported back to the regency setting and hoped that Daphne and Simon would be a big part of the cast, although it was confirmed that Daphne's brother, Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) would be the focus of the new episodes, per Harper's Bazaar.

Unfortunately for some fans, that wasn't the case.

Regé-Jean Page didn't return for Bridgerton Season 2

When "Bridgerton" was renewed for Season 2, creator Chris Van Dusen was quick to tell fans that Anthony Bridgerton would be the focus of the episodes, per Marie Claire. Phoebe Dynevor also revealed that the series was moving away from Daphne's storyline to focus on the character's older brother. "We're very much passing on the baton to the lovely [Jonathan Bailey], who plays Anthony, and that will be the main storyline of Season 2 and the story arc of Season 2," the actress previously revealed.

Although it was confirmed that Dynevor would return to reprise her role as Daphne for Season 2, Regé-Jean Page admitted that he would not be returning to his beloved character, Simon. The actor revealed that he always believed his role on "Bridgerton" to be a one-season gig. "It's a one-season arc. It's going to have a beginning, middle, end — give us a year," Page said. "[I thought] 'That's interesting,' because then it felt like a limited series. I get to come in, I get to contribute my bit, and then the Bridgerton family rolls on," he told Variety. "I have nothing but excitement for 'Bridgerton' continuing to steam train off and conquer the globe. But there is also value in completing these arcs and sticking the landing," he added.

However, "Bridgerton" fans are still holding out hope that Page could return for Season 3 of the Netflix series.

Fans are hoping that Simon Basset will return for Bridgerton Season 3

"Bridgerton" has become a huge fan-favorite for Netflix, and the series has confirmed that they will focus on Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington's love story during Season 3, per CNN. The series has hired a new showrunner in Jess Brownell, who told Variety that it feels like Colin and Penelope deserve their time in the spotlight, despite the fact that the third book in the series is all about Benedict Bridgerton.

According to Elle, many cast members will return for Season 3 of the show, including Simone Ashley, who portrayed Kate Sharma in Season 4, and Anthony Bridgerton himself, Jonathan Bailey. However, it's currently unclear whether or not Phoebe Dynevor will be back as Duchess of Hastings, Daphne Bridgerton. In addition, Town & Country reports that it seems very unlikely that Regé-Jean Page will reprise the role of Simon Basset for Season 3. However, the rumor mill has been working, and it's being speculated that there's a possibility of a Simon spotting in the future, per Netflix Life.

Meanwhile, because "Bridgerton" has been renewed for Seasons 3 and 4 (via Harper's Bazaar), there is plenty of opportunity for Simon and Daphne both to make appearances in future episodes.
