How Ridge Forrester Nearly Married A Horse On The Bold And The Beautiful
"The Bold and the Beautiful's" Ridge Forrester is a man in love with getting married. First played by Ronn Moss and now played by Thorsten Kaye, Ridge has been a fixture of the CBS soap since the day it premiered 35 years ago. And for decades, he found himself torn between two different women. In 2022, Ridge still finds himself torn between the same two women, Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Taylor Hayes (first played by Hunter Tylo, now Krista Allen). In fact, Ridge walked down the aisle to marry Brooke a whopping 11 times, although some of those ceremonies never got off the ground (via Soaps). Still, it wasn't for lack of trying.
Ridge has even been married to two different women named Caroline Spencer. He first chose the original Caroline Spencer (Joanna Johnson) over Brooke (via Soaps In Depth) in the late 1980s, and in 2015, he wed her much younger niece, also named Caroline Spencer (Linsey Godfrey). Ridge and the second Caroline wed in a beautiful beach ceremony that re-aired on July 1, 2020 during a week of weddings, as the soap was aired classic episodes after Hollywood productions shut down during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic (via Soap Hub). However, it was one of Ridge's weddings to Taylor where things got a little odd.
Brooke tried to stop a wedding on horseback
Brooke Logan Forrester has been fighting to be with Ridge Forrester since 1987, but would constantly find herself losing him to other women, namely Taylor Hayes. In 2009, Taylor and Ridge were ready to get married once again in the Forrester living room, and Brooke was determined to stop the wedding. After a series of text messages never went through the way she wanted, Brooke hopped on a horse and rode down the beach to make sure that Ridge and Taylor didn't become man and wife once again (via Soaps), but things got a little chaotic when she finally interrupted the ceremony.
Ridge and Taylor had already taken their vows and the ceremony was almost over just as Brooke burst through the door with her horse right behind her. The shock of that sight left the officiant at the wedding a bit confused, and rather than saying he pronounced Ridge and Taylor man and wife, he instead said (via YouTube), "Taylor, Ridge, it is my great pleasure, by the power of the church and the state of California, I now pronounce you man and ... HORSE!"
In the YouTube comments section, fans couldn't get enough of the memorable moment. Reactions range from "One off [sic] the best scenes in the B&B, this was fun!" to "The pastor look was priceless." Someone else said, "WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE?"
Where Brooke, Taylor, and Ridge stand in 2022
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Brooke and Ridge and Brooke and Taylor have gone back and forth between one another several times since that hilarious 2009 wedding. In 2018, Ridge and Brooke took their vows once again (via Soaps), and although they split up several times since then, including at the start of 2022 when Brooke got drunk on New Year's Eve and kissed Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), according to Soaps In Depth. Amazingly, they haven't headed back to divorce court this time.
As of this writing, Brooke and Ridge (as played by Thorsten Kaye) now know that alcoholic Brooke only drank because Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) switched labels between sparkling cider and champagne bottles (via Soaps In Depth), but Taylor Hayes (as played by Krista Allen) is back in town and has made it clear she still has feelings or Ridge after all these years and wants him back. As for Ridge, he moved back in with his dad, Eric Forrester (John McCook), so he can have some space and make up his mind between these two women — again (via Soap Hub).
