What The May 16 Blood Moon Eclipse Means For Water Signs
If you're looking to kick off your week with a bang, why not try catching the blood moon eclipse with your very own eyes? You may have to stay up a little later than usual but it'll be worth it.
The blood moon eclipse, also known as the super blood flower moon, per The Old Farmer's Almanac, takes place very late on the night of Sunday, May 15, and goes into the next day, Monday, May 16. For anyone in North America, it will be visible to the naked eye for approximately 84 minutes.
Though we'll be able to see it in North America, the timing will differ depending on what time zone you're in. According to Forbes, the breakdown for optimal viewing is as follows: Eastern Daylight Time: 12:11 a.m., Central Daylight Time: 11:11 p.m., Mountain Daylight Time: 10:11 p.m., and Pacific Daylight Time: 9:11 p.m.
Besides taking in the view, this eclipse can impact astrology and the water signs, in particular.
What the blood moon eclipse will look like
Living up to its name, if you catch the May 16 blood moon eclipse, you'll see a spectacular red moon. The red hue happens because it's the exact time that the earth is passing right between the sun and the moon, causing them to all become completely aligned, per NASA. This results in light from the sun being blocked and creates a shadow on the surface of the moon.
NASA states "when this happens, the only light that reaches the Moon's surface is from the edges of the Earth's atmosphere ... The remaining light reflects onto the Moon's surface with a red glow, making the Moon appear red in the night sky." This amazing red glow can also morph into orange, brown, or yellow.
Since the moon will be closer to the earth, it will create a supermoon, meaning it may "appear about 7% bigger and about 15% brighter than a typical full moon," per USA Today.
While the moon can actually affect your health, all this cosmic shifting also has a direct effect on the water signs.
Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces will notice a change
One thing you need to know about eclipses is that they can intensify things quickly. When an eclipse takes place, there is a direct effect on all signs because eclipses serve to "speed up time," per Allure. "They open new doors by slamming others shut, so we often find abrupt and sudden shifts occurring during eclipses." That means changes are afoot, so those who are not good at dealing with change may feel disturbed because endings are coming up, but so are new beginnings.
This May 15 eclipse will signal great change, per Elle, especially for the water signs — Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces. For Cancer, this affects passion, so a new love affair or pregnancy may be coming but they may have to end an existing one first to let the new love in. For Scorpio, the focus is going to be all on themselves and they may finally reach the dream goal they've been trying so hard to attain. For Pisces, it's going to be a time of exploration, which may have to do with business or spirituality.
No matter what your sign, now's the time to buckle up and get ready what this blood red moon has in store.
