General Hospital Relationship Timeline: Anna And Finn
Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) has loved several men in her time as an ABC soap opera character. She was first introduced to the "General Hospital" scene as Robert Scorpio's (Tristan Rogers) heretofore-unheard-of first wife in 1985 and remained with the soap until Anna and Robert's alleged deaths in 1991, with both Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) and Robert as her great loves. Finola Hughes reprised the role on "All My Children" in 2001 when it turned out Anna never died. While living in Pine Valley, she fell in love with Dr. David Hayward (Vincent Irizarry) and they married and had a little girl who sadly died at just a few months old.
Anna returned to "GH" and Port Charles in 2006 and has been a part of the cast, first as recurring and then with contract status ever since (via Soaps In Depth). A presumed-dead Duke returned to her very much alive during this period, but then he was killed again, seemingly for real this time (via Michael Fairman TV). Then, Anna met Dr. Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and he was definitely different from any man Anna had ever met, yet she was still drawn to him.
Hamilton Finn had two lost loves
Dr. Hamilton Finn, an infectious disease physician, was introduced to "General Hospital" fans in 2016 after actor Michael Easton's previous character, Dr. Silas Clay, was killed off in 2015. Dr. Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) brought him to town when her sister-in-law, Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliott), seemed to have a mysterious ailment. Finn found Tracy's problem and cured her as we learned that the character was also suffering from a mystery disease that Finn's late wife had died from. As he was trying to develop a cure, he experimented on himself and became addicted to narcotics in his concoction (via Soaps In Depth).
Finn also struck up a friendship with Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) that turned to romance. After Finn finally found the cure to this mystery disease after Hayden almost perished from it, the pair admitted they were in love. When Hayden learned she was pregnant, they planned to marry but then Hayden skipped town and lied to Finn that she had miscarried when her criminal past started catching up with her (via Soaps In Depth). By the time the opportunity to help superspy Anna Devane arrived, they were both ready for something new in their dramatic soap opera lives.
Anna enlisted Finn on a case
When Anna Devane's job as a WSB agent called for her to investigate a hypochondriac international drug dealer named Cassandra Pierce (Jessica Tuck), she enlisted the help of Hamilton Finn to become friends with Cassandra and lure her into a trap as a doctor who could solve all of her problems (via Soaps In Depth). While on the case, Anna and Finn started developing serious feelings for one another but refused to admit it. Anna also saw that Finn was a terrible spy and belonged in an exam room so she chose to keep her distance and keep him out of danger.
No matter how much Anna and Finn tried, they couldn't resist one another for too long and eventually admitted they were in love. Finn even moved into Anna's big house and they coasted along — at least for a little while. Not only did Finn help Anna with another case in Cuba, but they also soon got a big surprise (via Soaps In Depth).
Anna and Finn get a surprise
Although Hayden Barnes left Port Charles and "General Hospital" pregnant in 2017, through the magic of soap opera aging, she returned to town in 2019 with a four-year-old little girl named Violet (Jophielle Love) who she presented to Hamilton Finn as his daughter (via Soaps In Depth). Finn was shocked, to say the least, and was even more shocked when Hayden split town again because she got herself in more trouble, leaving Violet in the care of Anna Devane and Finn.
During this time, Anna was also coming to terms with finding a son she believed she gave up for adoption years earlier named Peter August (Wes Ramsey), according to Soaps In Depth. Finn didn't trust Peter at all, but Anna was determined to see good in the man who was fathered by the crazed criminal Cesar Faison (Anders Hove). Finn also kept getting himself in trouble when he tried to get involved with Anna's cases.
Anna and Finn become engaged
One thing Anna Devane had not been thinking about was marriage, but at the 2019 annual Nurses' Ball, Hamilton Finn popped the question right on stage and shocked Anna. She had known about a ring, but she thought Robert Scorpio was still in love with her and was going to propose. She had planned to turn him down, but she said yes to Finn and the couple officially became engaged (via Soaps.com). However, Anna continued keeping secrets from Finn all in the name of protecting him.
When Anna realized that her memories of giving birth to Peter were not her own, but belonged to her twin sister, Alex Marick, and had been implanted in her, she kept the truth from both Peter and Finn and instead confided in old frenemy Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). She also began to realize that Peter was just as horrible as his father and planned to bring him down — at her own double wedding to Finn where the other couple was Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) and Peter (via Soaps In Depth).
Anna and Finn's almost-wedding ended them
Anna Devane and Valentin Cassadine planned to have Peter August kidnapped the day she was to marry Hamilton Finn and he was to marry Maxie Jones, but Peter managed to thwart his kidnapper and made it to the wedding just on time (via Soaps.com). However, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), who blamed Peter for the death of her son and his half-brother, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), blew the whole wedding up when she played a video of the now-late Alex Devane confessing she was Peter's real mother. Valentin Cassadine then started telling the rest of the tale (via Soaps In Depth).
This caused Peter to lose it and dramatically confess to the extremely long list of all the horrible things he had done, thus ending his relationship with a very pregnant Maxie. As for Finn, he was furious with Anna for not telling him the truth about Peter and for putting Violet in danger, so he broke things off with her (via Soaps In Depth). As of this writing, it is a little over a year later and Finn seems to obsessively have feelings for Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), according to Soap Hub, while Anna is at the start of a romance with the dashing Valentin.
