The Hardest Parts Of Filming The Wilds Season 2 For The Cast Members - Exclusive

Prime Video's mystery-drama series "The Wilds" recently premiered Season 2 for streaming. Prior to the season's premiere, three of the show's stars – Sophia Ali, Jenna Clause, and Shannon Berry — sat down for an exclusive interview with The List to discuss their roles. All of them starred in Season 1 as well, along with five other actresses. The ensemble cast portrays a group of teenage girls thrown together after being stranded on a deserted island. A majority of the first season was spent getting to know their characters as they struggled to come together and survive in the wild.

All the characters endure a lot in Season 1. According to the actresses, that led to a lot of personal growth and changes for their characters in Season 2. During their conversation with The List, Ali, Clause, and Berry shared what some of the hardest scenes were for them to film, both physically and emotionally, this season.

The cast came together to battle the elements

According to Sophie Ali, Shannon Berry, and Jenna Clause, some of the most difficult scenes to film were the ones where they "really get in amongst the elements." Berry described how difficult it was any time they had to film in the water. "Every single time, that cold water is insane to deal with, and it's always a challenge ... You got to pretend it's not."

While the other two actresses agreed that those were some of the most difficult scenes, they joked that Berry actually seemed to struggle the least. "I don't believe you, Shannon," Ali said. "It's a challenge for me, but you're like ... Swimming through the water, frolicking like it's nothing. She's [having] a day at the park." Clause added that Berry was usually the one encouraging the rest of them to power through the cold to finish filming the scenes.

Jenna Clause had to dig deep into the emotional aspects of Martha

Going into Season 2 of "The Wilds," Jenna Clause said that she felt fairly confident because they'd already succeeded in Season 1. "If we did it once, we could do it again," Clause said. However, there were some big changes to her character Martha that she had to tackle. While the actress said Martha started the show "as a weak character," that all changed going into this season. "She takes a 180. She finally starts to defy everything that she's starting to unlearn and really becomes a stronger person for the [group] dynamic ... but ultimately, it's taxing for Martha," Clause said.

Because of that big shift in Martha's character, Clause had a lot of intense and emotional moments to act this season. "So really, the only biggest challenge was the emotional part of Martha's character. I feel like that was it," she said.

Sophia Ali struggled with playing less dramatic scenes

Unlike Jenna Clause, who had to tap into a lot of emotions this season, Sophia Ali said she struggled more with "making the non-actor-ey parts important." She explained that while she had a lot of intense and dramatic moments in the first season, Season 2 was more relaxed for her character, Fatin.

"Martha goes through a lot in this season, but for Fatin and Dot ... There's a lot of growth, but it also feels like a day in the life, and making that interesting is so much more challenging than making something that's important and dramatic interesting," Ali told The List. Although those emotional scenes can be more challenging, Ali said it's also what they prepare for as actors. "As an actor in acting class and stuff, that's our scenes. We find the hardest ones to do, the things that are going to challenge us and stretch our ability. You don't think about the throwaway things and the challenges they are," she said.

"The Wilds" Season 2 premiered on Prime Video on May 6, 2022.
