Britney Spears Reveals Even More Devastating Details About Her Relationship With Her Father
When Britney Spears' conservatorship was finally struck down, fans all over the world celebrated. In the ensuing months, the pop star has frequently opened up on social media about what life was like for her then and, crucially, how different it is now. After years of allegedly being forced to keep her IUD, Britney is finally free to be a mom again and indeed she's expecting a child with her fiancé, Sam Asghari. The "Stronger" hit-maker confirmed the happy news on Instagram, joking that she initially thought it was just a food baby.
As People reported, in a devastating testimony surrounding her conservatorship, Britney expressed her desire to finally move on with her life. "I want to have the real deal. I want to be able to get married and have a baby ... They don't want me to have children — any more children," she explained. Her 13-year conservatorship came to an end in November 2021, as The New York Times confirmed (via Elle). Britney's father, Jamie Spears, was removed as conservator a couple of months prior. And, now that Britney is free, she's sharing just how tough it was to exist under his rule for so long.
Britney Spears's father constantly made her feel like she wasn't good enough
She was one of the most famous women in the world but, behind the scenes, Britney Spears was suffering exponentially. In an Instagram post, the caption for which has since been deleted, the legendary pop star detailed how her father, Jamie Spears, allegedly made her life a living hell as a youngster. The Daily Mail reports how Britney revealed her father made her feel "ugly" at the exact moment when she was starting to feel attractive. The "Baby One More Time" hit-maker was just 13 years old, with Britney admitting she'll probably never recover from the psychological torture inflicted by her father.
"He ruined the deep seed of my existence," she stated, acknowledging her highly-publicized rebellious phase, which played out in the media in excruciating detail — there were plenty of awkward Britney moments that were caught on camera from that time — was partly a result of being under such strict control for so long. Britney also asserted how, during the conservatorship, she was consistently accused of being overweight, like no matter how hard she tried it was never enough. The "Toxic" hit-maker also accused Jamie of wrecking her sex life, too.
In the midst of conservatorship proceedings, Buzzfeed reported that Jamie claimed in legal documents to no longer have any kind of relationship with his daughter, with the former conservator prevented from even contacting her. However, it seems like that's exactly how Britney wants it.
