One Of Aaron Paul's Famous Co-Stars Is The Godfather Of His New Baby

"Breaking Bad" was one of the biggest and most successful TV shows of all time, establishing Bryan Cranston, who was previously most well-known for playing the dopey dad on "Malcom in the Middle," as a gifted dramatic actor.

Co-star Aaron Paul, meanwhile, saw his career launched into the stratosphere, as the performer went from bit parts to leading roles in the likes of "Need for Speed" and "Westworld."

The odd couple played Walter White and Jesse Pinkman in the hit show, which wrapped in 2013 with 16 Primetime Emmy Awards under its belt. Offscreen, they remain incredibly close, even launching a spirits line, Dos Hombres Mezcal, together.

In a 2022 interview with Esquire, Cranston and Paul acknowledged that their relationship on "Breaking Bad" bled into real life. "He became one of my closest friends — my mentor — very early on," Paul said. "When ['Breaking Bad'] was done, it was a very hard goodbye."

Naturally, choosing to work together again was a no-brainer for the former co-stars. Paul, in particular, has been open about how much the hit drama changed his career and his life for the better, per The Guardian. He credits Cranston's encouragement with helping him on that journey, so it's no surprise that Paul recently chose his "Breaking Bad" buddy for a very important role.

Aaron Paul chose Bryan Cranston as godfather to his baby

During an interview on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," actor Aaron Paul gushed about his new son, Ryden, whom he just welcomed alongside wife Lauren.

At one point, Fallon acknowledged Paul's still-close relationship with former co-star Bryan Cranston, wondering whether he'd met little Ryden yet. Not only has the "Malcolm in the Middle" star met him but he's also agreed to play an important role in the kid's life.

"I asked Bryan on his birthday if he would be our baby's godfather," Paul shared, joking that Cranston wasn't keen at first due to his busy schedule, before admitting, "No, he's very excited, very honored."

Of his "Breaking Bad" colleague, Paul gushed, "I love the man to death. He's one of my best friends in the world." It's worth noting Paul isn't the first to pick a famous colleague for this role; Ron Howard chose his co-star, Henry Winkler, to be Bryce Dallas Howard's godfather.

The actor shared a few shots of his newborn on Instagram, writing, "My little man. Ryden Caspian Paul. So happy you are out in this world you beautiful boy you."

Elsewhere, Walter White and Jesse Pinkman are set to appear in the final season of "Better Call Saul," the hit spinoff of "Breaking Bad," featuring Bob Odendirk's fan-favorite character, per Variety. Fans will have to wait and see how exactly the dynamic duo factors in, however.
