Victoria And David Beckham Receive A Blow From This Royal Couple Over Their Son's Wedding

Victoria and David Beckham's son Brooklyn married his longtime love Nicola Peltz in Miami this weekend, and the $3 million event was a who's who of big names. Among the famous attendees was Eva Longoria and Gordon Ramsay (via The U.S. Sun). Serena Williams was also on hand to wish the duo a happily ever after, along with her sister Venus. Other members of the Spice Girls were in attendance as well, as was Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen.

But there was one couple who received an invitation to the ritzy affair that declined to come. The Daily Mail reports that Prince William and Kate Middleton were asked to join the Beckhams in celebrating their son's marriage.

Of course, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have had a busy past several weeks, having just concluded their controversial tour of the Caribbean and then right away shown their support for the royal family at the memorial service for Prince Philip. Incidentally, after being away from their kids during the trip abroad, royal watchers enjoyed seeing the family reunited at the somber affair — with one notable exception.

Unfortunately, it seems the royals' response card for this headline-making event indicated they would be declining with regret.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reportedly not invited to Brooklyn Beckham's wedding

Remember, David and Victoria Beckham attended the highbrow event of the decade in 2011 when Prince William and Kate Middleton got married in front of an audience of nearly 18 million people worldwide — although, as Hello! notes, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's nuptials in 2018 were more viewed (via the Mirror). Naturally, it seems the posh British couple wanted to return the favor when it came time for their firstborn to say "I do."

A source told the Mirror, "David and Victoria wrote to William and Kate inviting them and the family to their son's wedding, and William replied wishing them a great deal of joy but they are unable to attend."

Fascinatingly, although the Beckhams were also on hand to watch the Duke and Duchess of Sussex be joined in holy matrimony, the iconic couple reportedly felt they could not invite both royal brothers to Brooklyn and Nicola's wedding. And the Sussexs only live across the country!

Princes William and Harry couldn't both attend the Beckham wedding for obvious reasons

The Mirror reports that the former Spice Girl and her soccer star husband decided not to invite Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the Florida wedding of their son Brooklyn and his now-wife, Nicola Peltz. The outlet notes that the Beckhams are closer to the Cambridges and it was a natural choice to ask them to be in attendance versus the new U.S. residents.

Why not invite both couples? Of course, it's been widely reported that William and Harry are still at odds following the younger prince's choice to leave the royal family and move to California. The Oprah Winfrey interview didn't serve to heal the rift between the once very close brothers, nor did Harry's decision not to attend the memorial service for Prince Philip over security concerns.

Interestingly, The U.S. Sun reports security concerns were the very reason Prince William and Kate Middleton opted to skip the Beckham wedding.
