The Bold And The Beautiful: The Truth About Steffy's Relationship With Finn

Tragedy has struck on "The Bold and the Beautiful" and the one man who seemed to have eyes only for Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) is now gone as Steffy herself lies in a coma, as of this writing, per Soaps.com. "B&B" fans are outraged because Steffy had finally found a true love who wasn't Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), a man who could never make up his mind between her and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle). In fact, Steffy kept that portrait of herself and Liam on her wall for so long, fans thought she would never get rid of it and give herself to Finn fully, but that is just what she did.

Steffy and John 'Finn' Finnegan (Tanner Novlan) had a brief love affair that came on quickly, gave Steffy a lot of joy, and then ended in a way neither one of them imagined. But how did it all begin and how did Steffy manage to find the man of her dreams because she decided to clear her head and take her motorcycle out for a ride one day?

Steffy's in a crash and meets a good doctor

It was the summer of 2020 and "The Bold and the Beautiful" was the first daytime soap to begin filming again after the world shut down at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Forbes. It was also the first soap back with new episodes after daytime television was forced into its first-ever rerun season, so the soap needed to hook people again quickly. What better way to do this than to take it outside where COVID-19 spread less and have Steffy speed through Los Angeles streets on her motorcycle? Steffy needed to clear her head, but she got so much more instead.

An accidental collision with Bill Spencer's (Don Diamont) car landed Steffy in the hospital, according to Soaps.com, where she injured her back. Although she would pull through, she was in a lot of pain, so her new doctor John 'Finn' Finnegan prescribed her painkillers when she was discharged and told her to be careful with them and not take too many. Then, he learned he lived nearby and would stop in and check on Steffy every once in a while. That's when he noticed Steffy was running through painkillers way too fast and refused to prescribe her anymore.

Steffy reaches rock bottom, Finn lifts her up

With Finn not providing Steffy with painkillers, she turned to Vinny Walker (Joe LoCicero), her brother Thomas Forrester's (Matthew Atkinson) best friend who had connections. As Steffy fell deeper into addiction, her loved ones tried to help her and eventually Steffy admitted she had a problem and checked herself into a rehabilitation center. That's where she really got to know Finn.

Her neighbor and emergency room doctor would stop by and visit Steffy when she was in rehab and they grew close to one another and started falling in love by just talking during visiting hours, according to Soaps.com. When Steffy was released, Finn was still always around and eventually they took things to the next level and slept with one another. Too bad Liam thought Hope was having an affair and Steffy was there to comfort him one night. One thing led to another, Steffy slept with Liam, and then she learned she was pregnant, per Soaps In Depth.

A paternity problem is not a problem

In her first honest relationship, Steffy confessed to Finn that she slept with Liam, she was pregnant, and she didn't know who the father was. While Finn was devastated, he told Steffy they never said they were exclusive at the time, so he would love her baby as if it was his own no matter what happened. It turned out that Finn was her baby's father, Finn proposed, the pair prepared to marry, but they didn't get around to it before baby Hayes was born via a water birth in a kiddie pool in Steffy's living room, per TV Insider.

With their family complete, Finn and Steffy planned a wedding in the Forrester living room and his parents, Jack (Ted King) and Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) even arrived in town, with Finn telling Steffy he was adopted. Their wedding ceremony went off without a hitch, but then CBS soap crazed villainess Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) crashed the reception to announce she was Finn's biological mother, per Soaps In Depth. Soon, Finn learned that his father had an affair with Sheila, she gave up her baby to him, and he took the baby home to his wife and didn't tell him this baby they were adopting was really his.

Steffy orders Sheila out of their lives

Since Sheila was a Forrester family enemy, Steffy told Finn he had to choose between her and his new mother. For a while, Finn resented this until he realized Steffy was right about this woman all along and she had not reformed herself like she claimed. Still, Steffy's mom, Taylor Hayes (Krista Allen), insisted they invite Sheila for Christmas, per Soaps In Depth, which prompted Sheila to want to thank Taylor by reuniting her with Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). She just had to get Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) out of the way first, so she switched labels on bottles of champagne and sparkling cider so that Brooke would get drunk and kiss Deacon Shape (Sean Kanan) on New Year's Eve, per Soaps In Depth.

Months later, when Steffy learned what Sheila did, she confronted her and Sheila pulled out a gun. Too bad Finn walked straight into the line of fire, catching a bullet in his chest meant for his wife.

Finn is dead and Steffy is comatose

That's where Finn and Steffy's love story ends. Finn died in Steffy's arms as she screamed and an out-of-her-mind Sheila shot Steffy next. The Forresters have gathered around to be by Steffy's side as she lingers in a coma and Finn's real parents are beside themselves to learn their son is gone.
