How Many Children Does Sharon Have On The Young And The Restless?
When Sharon Collins (Sharon Case) first arrived on the Genoa City scene in 1994, she was a childless high school student — or so we thought. Almost immediately, she fell for Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and the two got married right out of high school, much to the chagrin of his mother, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). Sharon even got pregnant immediately, but she also had a secret that even she didn't know the extent of until decades later.
Through the years, Sharon has lived in the same home on the Newman ranch, running the same coffee house called Crimson Lights, all while trying to be the best mom she could be, with some problems along the way, including several tragedies, several impulsive marriages, and a diagnosis of bipolar disorder. After all, she is a soap opera mom, and if you think real moms have it rough, soap opera moms deal with some pretty out-of-this-world things.
Sharon's first child Cassie was beloved by fans and killed
After Sharon gave birth to a premature baby boy, the fact that she had another child she gave up for adoption before ever arriving in Genoa City became relevant. Sharon's best friend from those days, Grace Turner (Jennifer Gareis), decided if Sharon's new baby died then she needs to see the one she gave up. So, Grace tracked down a little girl named Cassie (Camryn Grimes), who was living with her adoptive grandmother, Millie. Since Millie wanted Cassie to be happy, she allowed her to be taken in by Sharon and Nick, who became her legal guardians and raised her till she was a teenager (via Soaps In Depth).
Then, one night a rebellious Cassie snuck out of the house and ended up driving without a license because Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) was drunk, according to Soaps.com. That resulted in a horrific car crash that caused Cassie to lose her life. It also broke up Sharon and Nick's marriage.
Sharon's second child Noah needs direction in life
That premature baby boy lived, and Sharon and Nick named him Noah. Today, Noah (Rory Gibson) is a grown man who has had many failed romances both in Genoa City and while living abroad. Noah was recently living in Europe as a photographer, and when he returned to Genoa City, he couldn't get over the fact that his last Genoa City girlfriend definitely and without a doubt didn't want him anymore (via Soaps In Depth).
As of this writing, Noah is a brooding man who is becoming like his dad, Nick. He has to always have a woman by his side and if it's just a one-night stand, that seems to be fine with him (via Daytime Confidential). Still, Sharon, who is now a therapist on top of owning a coffee house, thinks Noah needs some help and is very worried about her baby boy. She thinks something happened to him in Europe that he is keeping a secret. She knows he had a bad breakup there, but she doesn't know the details, which can make for a juicy story when Noah's secret finally comes out.
Sharon's third child Faith needs to get through her teens
After Cassie died, her ghost visited Sharon and Nick and told them they would have another little girl. Since they were broken up at the time, Sharon wondered how that could be, but a one-night stand resulted in a little girl they named Faith and chose to co-parent despite not being together (via Soaps In Depth).
Faith (first played by Alyvia Alyn Lind, now Reylynn Caster) is now a teenager and went through a rebellious drinking period in 2021 that resulted in her stealing a vehicle, driving without a license, and ending up in the hospital. Sharon and Nick were sure she would meet the same fate as Cassie so they got her the help she needed, and now Faith is the perfect teen having her first romance with Moses Winters (Randall L. Smith). In fact, Faith is a little but too perfect, which could mean trouble down the line...
Sharon's fourth child is Cassie's twin
In 2014, Sharon thought she was losing her mind and hallucinating when she kept seeing a grown woman who looked strikingly like her beloved Cassie, according to Michael Fairman TV. It turned out this woman was really Cassie's twin sister, a girl Sharon never knew she gave birth to. Sharon was so out of it after Cassie was born, her mother never told her she really had twins, as her mother gave both girls away.
While they had a rough start when Mariah Copeland, also played by Camryn Grimes, first arrived in Genoa City, Sharon and Mariah are now as close as a mother and daughter could be, with Mariah there to support Sharon when she battled breast cancer in 2020. Sharon is even helping plan Mariah's wedding to Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks), the woman that Noah still has a thing for (via Soaps.com). Too bad Tessa is in love with Noah's sister. Oh what a tangled soap web "Y&R" weaves.
Sharon thought she had a fifth child, but she didn't
In 2015, Sharon married Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton) after discovering she was pregnant. Sadly, Sharon miscarried the baby and didn't have the heart to tell Dylan, according to Soaps In Depth. She also felt problems from her bipolar disorder coming on, so she checked herself into a mental health facility where a doctor who had a vendetta against Nick drugged her so that she made Sharon believe she had gotten pregnant again and given birth. Sharon took a baby boy home with her, with she and Dylan naming him Sully.
Sharon had no idea this baby was the little boy that Nick and his new wife, Sage (Kelly Sullivan), were told died soon after birth. When Sharon learned the truth, she wasn't sure what to do, but soon Sage figured it out and wanted her baby back (via Soap Hub). Sharon then watched Sage swerve off the road and brought her baby to her to hold as she died from injuries from her car accident. She eventually gave the baby back to Nick, who named him Christian, and later learned that he wasn't even the boy's father — his brother and Sharon's ex-lover, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) was.
