Why Dating Kanye West Was A Reset For Julia Fox's Life
These days, it's rare to hear Kanye West's name without also hearing about his latest beef with the likes of Pete Davidson, Trevor Noah, and even his estranged ex-wife Kim Kardashian. Kanye's divorce from Kardashian seemed to spark West's erratic and unpredictable behavior, with both fans and critics expressing their concerns (per Highsnobiety). Recently, the rapper-turned-designer has been under fire for his "Eazy" music video, which depicts a clay figure resembling Davidson being decapitated. Soon after, West was temporarily restricted from Instagram after posting a racial slur aimed at "The Daily Show" host Noah, CNN reported.
A few months prior, when West was still yearning for Kardashian to take him back, another name began appearing in headlines alongside his — Julia Fox. In December 2021, while West was still in divorce proceedings with Kardashian, he began dating Fox, an indie actress and model (per Us Weekly). The pair cozied up for most of January 2022 before splitting just in time for Valentine's Day. Though their romance was short, Fox seemed to have no hard feelings.
Julia Fox says dating Kanye West brought a spark back into her life
Julia Fox and Kanye West's relationship only lasted around six weeks, but that was apparently all the time Fox needed. She summed up her courtship with West positively, telling Entertainment Tonight, "It was the best thing that could've happened to me ... It was like hitting a reset button. It kind of brought a spark into my life that I had kind of forgotten about." She also said that she was still friends with West and that their affair ended on an amicable note.
Dating West may have brought a spark into Fox's career too. Some tabloids had speculated that the West-Fox romance was all just a publicity stunt, but the actress says otherwise. Fox admitted to the New York Times that "the exposure [while dating Kanye West] was priceless" but that their bond wasn't a hoax. Still, Fox seems anything but heartbroken, saying, "I do think eventually I'll surpass the Kanye narrative. Believe it or not, Kanye's not the most interesting thing that's ever happened to me."
