TikToker Exposes Love Is Blind After Noticing Huge Editing Mistake
Love may be blind, but TikTokers definitely are not. And one user on the platform has a bone to pick with "Love Is Blind," according to a video he uploaded to the platform on March 9, 2022, according to Cosmopolitan.
The dating show has been a hit for Netflix, and the second season premiered in February 2022, with six new couples and Nick Lachey as host, per Slate. The concept is that singles looking for love communicate with one another while lounging in specially designed pods. They try to connect based on personality and not just looks since they don't actually see each other face-to-face until later in the show.
Recently, TikToker Karl Helfer was catching up on the show when he noticed something odd. He was watching a scene that is fairly standard for the series: One pair, Mallory Zapata and Sal Perez, are having a serious conversation about their relationship over a home-cooked meal.
At first glance, everything seems normal. But something happened next that convinced the TikToker that "this whole show is cut up clips."
One TikToker pointed out a weird editing mistake on Love Is Blind
As seen in the TikTok video by Karl Helfer, "Love Is Blind" cast members Mallory Zapata and Sal Perez are having dinner, enjoying what appears to be a shrimp and pasta dish. The two have a lengthy conversation about their relationship as they dine.
"We have been through a lot together. Everything through this whole experiment has been like emotions on steroids," Mallory says (via Cosmopolitan). "I knew coming back to, like, the real world and outside of our bubble, we knew that was going to be the hardest part of everything."
She continues to talk as the camera alternately focuses on her and Sal seated at the table. This is where Kelfer comes in: He points out the fact that the food on their plates seems to disappear and reappear randomly throughout the scene, suggesting that the original footage was chopped up and heavily edited.
"That was one fluid conversation," remarked Helfer. "How did that even just happen?"
Fans are just as confused about the mistake as he is, and we definitely have some questions for the show's producers.
