The Wildest Pregnancy Dramas On Days Of Our Lives
"Days of Our Lives" is known for creating shocking storylines and pushing the envelope with its content. The NBC soap opera has been on the air for more than 55 years, and during that time there have been so many memorable moments for fans to reflect on. According to Fame 10, some of the most shocking plots on "DOOL" include a demonic possession and exorcism, serial killers, a groundbreaking same-sex marriage, torrid affairs, characters being buried alive, and even one character disguising herself as a man to hide in plain sight.
However, over the years, some of the most dramatic and stunning moments have involved the characters' children. As being a parent is so relatable to many "Days of Our Lives" viewers, fans were on the edge of their seats as they watched storylines involving child loss, baby swaps, tampered DNA test results, and so much more play out in Salem.
Sami Brady lied to everyone about her son's father
One of "Days of Our Lives" fans' most beloved characters, Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney), has had her fair share of baby drama. However, her first pregnancy had fans captivated and waiting to see how it would all play out. When Sami was very young she fell in love with her sister Carrie Brady's (Christie Clark) boyfriend, Austin Reed (Austin Peck). Sami stopped at nothing to try to steal Austin from Carrie. Of course, her best friend at the time, Lucas Horton (Bryan Dattilo), who also happened to be Austin's brother, wanted Carrie for himself. Lucas and Sami worked together to try and break up the pair. However, things got heated between the friends one night, and Sami ended up pregnant with Lucas' child (via Soaps.com).
Seeing an opportunity to steal Austin for good, Sami drugged her sister's beau and made him believe that they had slept together. She later interrupted Carrie and Austin's wedding to reveal that she was pregnant and that Austin was the father. Sami later gave birth to her first child, Will, and conned Austin into marrying her. Eventually, the truth came out that Lucas was Will's father, and Sami and Lucas duked it out over custody of their son. They eventually moved past it all, and have entered into romantic relationships multiple times over the years.
Stolen embryos led to major drama on 'DOOL'
Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel) is one of the biggest villains in "Days of Our Lives" history. The character, who would stop at nothing to get what she wanted, was first introduced in 1992 when she came to Salem and later fell hard for Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston). However, the couple's romance fizzled out when Victor left Vivian for Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow), which started a bitter feud between Vivian and Kate that would last decades, per Soaps in Depth.
In an attempt to get revenge on Kate and win Victor back, Vivian devised a plan to steal Victor and Kate's embryo. Vivian then carried the couple's child, son Philip Kiraikis, and gave birth to the little boy in hopes that she would make Victor see that she was a better match for him than Kate. It didn't work, and the truth finally came out. However, Philip is now forever tied to Vivian.
A similar storyline played out with Theresa Donovan (Jen Lilley). After she became pregnant with Brady Black's (Eric Martsolf) child, Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) was so jealous that she decided to have Theresa kidnapped and drugged so that her embryo could be stolen from her body and implanted into Kristen's instead (via Soaps in Depth). Kristen then left town and gave birth to the couple's son, Tate. Theresa eventually put the pieces together, and the little boy was returned to his parents shortly after.
Claire and Mimi's pregnancies were unforgettable
Switched-up embryos also played a part in the pregnancy drama between four best friends on "Days of Our Lives." Although Shawn Brady and Belle Black were always meant to be, life pulled them apart and had Belle running into the arms of Shawn's best friend, Philip Kiriakis. Later, Shawn found himself falling for Belle's bestie Mimi Lockhart. The two couples eventually wed and opted for IVF as a way to get pregnant (via Soap Hub). However, things got very messy when there was a huge mix-up at the lab and the wrong specimens were put together, meaning Belle was carrying a baby that belonged to Shawn, and Mimi was pregnant with Philip's child. Belle gave birth to her daughter, Claire, and Philip was thrilled to be a father. When it was later revealed that Shawn was actually the little girl's dad, Philip was crushed. The two couples divorced and Belle and Shawn got back together and left Salem with their daughter.
Another of "DOOL"'s biggest pregnancy shockers came when Abigail Deveraux found out that she was pregnant with Ben Weston's baby (via Realty Today). The couple were engaged, so they were happy to start a family together. However, Ben's behavior began to grow erratic, and it was revealed that he was a serial killer called the Necktie Killer. He kidnapped Abby, and after she gave birth, he stole the baby and went on the run. After being saved by Chad DiMera, Abby later found out that her son's true father was Chad.
The tragic tale of Zack Brady
One of the most memorable pregnancy and baby dramas of all time came from a scheme by Stefano DiMera. When Stefano's daughter, Lexie, and her husband Abe Carver wanted to have a baby, he found a young pregnant woman named Marlo, who was willing to give her child up for adoption. At the same time, Hope was pregnant with her and Bo's second child. Both of the babies were born at the same time, and Stefano opted to swap Bo and Hope's son with Marlo's baby. The Brady's took home a baby boy that they named J.T., and the Carvers went home with a son that they named Isaac (via Soaps.com).
The boys were raised by their prospective parents for two years until the truth came out thanks to DNA test results. Lexie was so heartbroken that she took Isaac and left Salem. In the end, it was heartbreaking for both couples as Bo and Hope were forced to give up J.T. and Lexie and Abe had to say goodbye to Isaac, whom Bo and Hope later called Zack.
Sadly, the Bradys lost precious years with Zack, and only a few years later the little boy was hit by a car that was driven by his half-sister, Chelsea Brady, and died from his injuries. His liver was given to his niece, Claire, in one of the saddest "DOOL" storylines of all time.
