Longtime "Days of Our Lives" viewers may remember several stars getting their start on the soap opera, including actress Vivica A. Fox. She appeared on the fan-favorite show when she was a budding young actress in 1988, but who did Fox play on the daytime series?

Vivica A. Fox appeared as Carmen Silva in the late '80s

According to TV Overmind, Vivica A. Fox got her start on "Days of Our Lives" in 1988 when she was cast as the character Carmen Silva. The role was one of Fox's very first jobs as an actress, although she was only on the soap opera for a brief period. Fox's character appeared in Salem for less than a year before she was written off the show.

However, the opportunity was a jumping-off point for the actress, who went on to appear in yet another soap opera titled "Generations" shortly after. In "Generations," Fox portrayed a character named Maya Reubens from 1989 until 1991, alongside soap icon Kristoff St. John (via Soap Opera Digest). Following her stint on "Generations," Fox landed the role of Stephanie Simmons on "The Young and the Restless" in 1994, but exited the soap one year later.

After leaving her role on "DOOL," Fox also went on to star in films such as "Set It Off," "Why Do Fools Fall In Love," "Kill Bill," "Soul Food," "Independence Day," and more (via IMDb). Fox has cultivated an impressive resume and gained plenty of fans over her years in Hollywood, but "Days of Our Lives" will always be one of the shows that helped her get her start.
