What Really Happened To Eric And Quinn On The Bold And The Beautiful?
There was a time in 2021 when "The Bold and the Beautiful's" Eric (John McCook) and Quinn (Rena Sofer) were the front burner couple everyone was talking about. Married since 2016, Eric and Quinn seemed like they were settled into married life — a life that doesn't always give a soap opera pair a storyline (via Soaps.com). So, clearly Eric and Quinn needed some angst to stir things up, and angst is just what they got.
Quinn had no idea why her husband didn't seem to want her any more after he said he forgave her for a dirty trick she played on Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). So, she turned to another man, Eric found out what happened, and that's where things really got interesting. And then, just like their story came out of nowhere, their story was dropped out of nowhere, and viewers rarely see them on-screen together anymore. What happened to Eric and Quinn, and why do they no longer have a storyline?
Quinn Fuller didn't know what was wrong
Since 2016, Eric and Quinn have seemed like an odd match, but also an underdog couple you wanted to root for. We never saw them actually fall in love. Rather, viewers learned one day that Eric Forrester and Quinn Fuller had found someone new in their lives, and it turned out to be each other. Eric's family was so against them being together that they even boycotted their wedding, but Eric and the much younger Quinn persevered (via Soaps.com). He even took her back after he learned that she tricked his son, Ridge Forrester, into thinking he got a quick divorce from Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) so he could marry her friend, Shauna Fulton (Denise Richards), in Vegas.
When Eric avoided every chance he had to make love to Quinn, she finally questioned him, and he said he just couldn't forgive her for what she did to Ridge. A despondent Quinn ended up pouring out her feelings to Forrester Creations lawyer Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor), and he vented about his love life to her, too. The next thing fans knew, Carter and Quinn were having a full-blown affair (via Soaps.com)
Eric Forrester learned what his wife did
Eric was still determined to make his marriage to Quinn work, but didn't know about her steamy affair. Quinn wanted the same, so the two agreed to a vow renewal — and Eric asked "The Bold and the Beautiful's" Carter to officiate. Can somebody say "awkward?" Well, things became even more awkward when Brooke revealed the truth about Carter and Quinn in the middle of the ceremony, and Eric kicked her out of the house and demanded a divorce.
When Quinn thought it was over with her husband, she continued the affair with Carter, but they told nobody. That's when it was such a shock that Eric wanted Quinn back, and confessed to her the real reason they weren't together was because he was suffering from erectile dysfunction (via Soaps in Depth). Since he wanted his wife's needs to be met, he sanctioned her affair with Carter. They balked at it at first, but then did what Eric asked them to do until busybodies Brooke and Ridge found out what they were up to. Quinn was forced to tell them that Eric wanted her and Carter to sleep together.
Eric and Quinn chose one another
When Eric changed his mind about sanctioning Quinn's affair, Carter decided he was in love with Quinn. He asked her to run away with him, but she ultimately chose Eric and their marriage. Meanwhile, Eric's ex, Donna Logan (Jennifer Gareis), confessed she was still in love with him, and tried to be seductive with him in the Forrester Creations offices. That's when Eric's problem was suddenly a problem no more.
When Quinn learned it was Donna who cured her husband, she demanded he fire her and not see her anymore (via Soaps in Depth). Eric obliged, and he and Quinn seem to be living happily ever after in the Forrester mansion without a storyline once again. They were seen with one another at Christmas, smiling and in love, but they've clearly been sent to where soap couples go when happy endings make for boring plots.
