Joe Biden Has A Message For Queen Elizabeth

Although the official celebrations won't be held until the summer, Queen Elizabeth II marked 70 years on the throne on Feb. 6, 2022, making her the only monarch in British history to reach platinum jubilee status.

The day began with a 41-gun salute to the queen (via CBS News), who marked the milestone in a quiet way at her castle in Sandringham, as it also is the day her beloved father, King George VI, passed away, according to People.

The queen also made headlines as she celebrated this occasion when she announced that, when her eldest son, Prince Charles, ascends to the throne after her death, his second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, will be known as queen consort.

While the queen sat for a portrait and spent a quiet day in one of her favorite homes, well wishes poured in from around the world ahead of the celebrations filled with pomp and circumstance in a weekend full of events in early June

One such message was from President Joe Biden.

Queen Elizabeth was pleased with President Joe Biden's congratulatory note

Just like her quiet day at Sandringham, where Queen Elizabeth II spent private moments with those closest to her, the message the queen received from President Joe Biden on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee was also private.

According to Town & Country, the palace released a video of the queen receiving messages, in which her private secretary, Sir Edward Young, passes her a piece of paper, saying, "There are some really nice comments, including one from President Biden."

After looking at the paper, the queen was heard saying, "That's very kind, isn't it?"

In addition, the official White House Twitter account shared a public message from President Biden to the queen.

"Today we honor Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the historic occasion of her Platinum Jubilee," it read. "Throughout the past 70 years, she has strengthened the ties of friendship, shared ideals, and faith in democracy that forever unite our countries."
