The Queer Eye Heroine Who Now Works With Jonathan Van Ness
The hugely popular "Queer Eye" reboot is positively overflowing with inspirational people, who have lovingly been dubbed "heroes" and "heroines" by the Fab Five. Although fans tune in to watch Tan France, Bobby Berk, Antoni Porowski, Jonathan Van Ness, and Karamo Brown do their thing, viewers are just as obsessed with the people that the Fab Five help out. As Brown explained, in a joint 2018 interview with IndieWire, "The fact that people love this show are able to follow up with our heroes, has meant the world to its success."
Speaking about the online support that "Queer Eye" has seen from fans, Brown added, "Before, you just see that we do it and it's just like, it's done and now people are like, 'Oh my Gosh, not only are they continuing on our journey, they're continuing on the journey of our heroes.'" France agreed, sharing that this might be why people feel "so invested." "Once they get to be invested in these guys because even though it's only 45 minutes, they are fully committed to finding out what is happening in their lives too," he said, per IndieWire. In particular, fans may remember trans weightlifter Angel Flores, who became one of the breakout stars of Season 6. Ever since the newest season dropped on December 31, 2021, Flores has cemented herself as a fan-favorite "heroine" — which is why it's so heartwarming to see that she's continued to foster a close relationship with Van Ness.
Angel Flores remains close with Jonathan Van Ness
"Queer Eye"s resident hair guru, Jonathan Van Ness, had fans cheering when he revealed that he's kept in touch with "heroine" Angel Flores after shooting wrapped on the hit show. As Pink News notes, the aspiring powerlifter was finding it difficult to express herself through fashion and be comfortable in her own skin. But, by the time the Fab Five was done with her, Flores was strutting her stuff with the best of them.
Van Ness, a fledgling gymnast, took to Instagram in January 2022 to share a carousel of photos and images featuring Flores working out in the gym. "Angel @_.arkangel_ appreciation post!," Van Ness wrote, noting that she had been training and joining the reality star at gymnastics for months to help him stay strong. Describing the post as "a typical day at gymnastics," Van Ness thanked Flores for being "so encouraging." "I love you friend & thanks so much for being you," he added. Fans gushed over their sweet relationship, with one commenting, "Here for this friendship!" Another admitted that the post "made my day." For her part, Flores has been keeping fans updated on her progress since the beginning of Season 6. This includes posting content of her girlfriend Katie, as well as her powerlifting journey.
