Why The Actress In The Frito-Lay Super Bowl 2022 Commercial Looks Familiar
Super Bowl commercials are big business, and Frito-Lay spared no expense when debuting their first ever advertisement for Flamin' Hot during this year's event. As People reported at the time, in the run-up to the commercial's release, they teased a suitably hot celebrity spokesperson who would be starring alongside their iconic snack-foods. Frito-Lay is bringing two of its most famous brands, Cheetos and Doritos, together for the new spot, which promotes both Cheetos Flamin' Hot Crunchy and the brand-new Doritos Flamin' Hot Cool Ranch flavor.
Although the identity of the spokesperson in question was kept under wraps, there were several obvious clues as to who it was, from the lengthy fake nails, adorned with red gems, to the wrists and fingers clad in sparkling jewels. Clearly, this is a lady who enjoys the finer things in life, which naturally include the best snacks Frito-Lay has to offer. Ahead of Super Bowl LVI, which is due to take place on February 13 at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the company released a teaser trailer featuring the lady herself, and it's definitely someone you'll recognize.
The actress is a rap music superstar
The actor taking part in the teaser titled "Questions," who fields hilarious queries about what kind of animals she'd be comfortable working alongside in the Frito-Lay Super Bowl commercial, is none other than rapper Megan Thee Stallion. As the Flamin' Hot commercial finally dropped in all its glory, with an earworm of a classic song scoring the animated action to boot, People confirmed Megan was the mystery celebrity spokesperson, alongside fellow superstar Charlie Puth. Although neither party actually appears in the full commercial, with both voicing animated creatures instead, they were each gifted starring roles in fun teasers leading up to the main event.
The rapper enthused, "To be in a Super Bowl ad, I definitely feel like these are one of the moments where I'm like, 'Dang, you might be kind of famous. You might be working it. You might really be somebody.'" Although Megan seems unsure about her fame, nobody else is, with the Texas native dominating the charts ever since she was discovered on Instagram. As the Evening Standard notes, Megan dropped her hit single "Savage" right before the world went into lockdown. It was later remixed by none other than Beyoncé. The rapper then teamed up with Cardi B for chart-dominating track "WAP" and, to date, has generated tens of millions of streams for each release thus far.
Suffice to say, everybody knows who she is, hence why the Super Bowl ad is so genius.
