Donald Trump Completely Tears Into Jeff Zucker Amid His Resignation From CNN

Former President Donald Trump has never been afraid to speak his mind. He has been especially vocal when it comes to the distaste he has for the CNN network. According to The Hill, he spent much of his presidency calling CNN and other news networks that didn't positively cover him "fake news." "Fake news" became a buzzword tossed around by the former president and his base and CNN was constantly a target.

However, CNN head Jeff Zucker and Trump used to be cordial. According to the Washington Post, when Trump launched his show "The Apprentice" on Zucker's network at the time, NBC, they had a good working relationship. Trump's show helped improve NBC's bad ratings at the time and Trump got a show on TV long before he ran for president. They seemed to have respected one another at the time.

Things quickly flipped, though, and Trump did not hold back when he released a statement after Zucker left CNN.

Trump made a lengthy statement about Zucker leaving CNN

Trump completely tore into Zucker when he released this lengthy statement, according to the Independent. Trump said, "Jeff Zucker, a world-class sleazebag who has headed ratings and real-news-challenged CNN for far too long, has been terminated for numerous reasons, but predominantly because CNN has lost its way with viewers and everybody else."

He didn't stop there. Per the New York Post, the rest of the statement read, "Now is a chance to put Fake News in the backseat because there may not be anything more important than straightening out the horrendous LameStream Media in our Country, and in the case of CNN, throughout the World. Jeff Zucker is gone — congratulations to all!"

While Zucker often had negative things to say about Trump during his presidency, it seems the former president has forgotten that without Zucker, "The Apprentice" may have never aired on television. Their former friendship is clearly not rekindling any time soon.
