According to sources, Roberts and Hedlund have split, with an insider telling People, "It's sad, and they are trying their best to co-parent. It's been hard." While we don't know the reasons for the couple breaking up, the timing coincides with Hedlund facing legal trouble according to Page Six. Apparently the actor fell asleep behind the wheel of his car and caused an accident.

TMZ reports the collision actually took place in 2020, but now, the family involved in the crash is suing the star. Hedlund was allegedly drunk at the time.

Emma Roberts has been through public splits before

Roberts is no stranger to enduring public breakups, as she had previously been linked to other stars before coupling up with Hedlund, including Alex Pettyfer and Chord Overstreet (via Us Weekly). The niece of A-lister Julia Roberts also reportedly dated Evan Peters and Hayden Christensen, both pre-Hedlund. But it seemed she was happy settling down with her new man and planned to start a family.

While pregnant, Roberts spoke candidly to Cosmopolitan about her ongoing fertility challenges and shared, she worried she "wouldn't be able to have kids...." The actor also said, "I did freeze my eggs eventually, which was a difficult process." She was thrilled to learn she was expecting with Hedlund, but admitted about the timing, "This pregnancy made me realize that the only plan you can have is that there is no plan."

Upon welcoming Rhodes, Roberts posted a photo of herself holding her new bundle of joy to Instagram and wrote in part, "Thank you 2020 for getting one thing right."
