Chris Daughtry Reveals Tragic Information About His Stepdaughter's Death
Singer Chris Daughtry suffered a tragic loss in November 2021, when his 25-year-old stepdaughter suddenly passed away. As People reported at the time, Hannah Price was found dead in her Nashville home by local law enforcement, with "American Idol" contestant Daughtry immediately postponing his nationwide tour to be with his family. The band noted in a statement posted to Facebook at the time, "Due to the unexpected death of Chris and Deanna Daughtry's daughter, Hannah, all currently scheduled shows for the coming week for Daughtry have been postponed." They added, "The Daughtry family thanks you for your understanding and respectfully asks for privacy during this very difficult time."
The band's statement also noted the investigation into the tragic incident was ongoing and that "further details" would be released at a later stage. Price and younger sister Rosa are Deanna's children from a previous relationship. She and Daughtry share three additional kids and have been together since 2000. After Price's death was confirmed, the New York Post noted her mother wrote in an Instagram post. "We are awaiting the autopsy results to determine how Hannah sustained the injuries that caused her death. Our hearts are broken." Price had endured a difficult few years, after losing her biological father to suicide in 2018 and being shot during an incident with local gang members later that same year.
Judging by her own social media posts, Price seemed to be struggling to pay her bills and often shared that she felt "alone."
Chris Daughtry's stepdaughter had a tragic past
People confirmed Hannah Price "died by suicide while under the influence of narcotics." Price's family also confirmed the sad news in a statement, that read, "As Hannah got older, she struggled to find her footing and began using drugs and often found herself in abusive relationships."
They continued, "Just months after losing her biological father to suicide, Hannah was the victim of a crime and was shot in the face. We did everything we could to support her and get her the help she needed to recover from these tragedies and get her life back on track." On the morning of her death, Price told her family she was scared for her life, after her boyfriend allegedly assaulted her and stole her car. However, local police performed a wellness check and found nothing wrong.
Price's boyfriend subsequently discovered her body and called 911. There was no evidence of foul play. Price's family's statement concluded, "Hannah was a generous and loving person who wanted more for herself and others. She will forever be in the hearts and minds of those of us who love her."
