Jessica Chastain Opens Up About The Scary Injury She Experienced On Set
Actress Jessica Chastain appeared on "The Late Late Show With James Corden" on Wednesday night to talk about her upcoming film "The 355" along with co-star Penélope Cruz. During Chastain's conversation with Corden, she discussed the physicality of her role in the movie, which is being billed as an action spy film. Chastain, who serves as a producer on the film as well, said, "We made it for a fraction of the cost of what it would normally be and we are the owners of the film," (via Yahoo!).
While this is a huge career step for the "Zero Dark Thirty" actress, the limited budget impacted the way the movie was made. Primarily, it impacted Chastain's physical involvement in terms of filming a few of the stunt scenes.
According to Chastain, she did some of her own stunts for "The 355," and opened up about the scary injury she experienced on set while filming one of the scenes. The actress told Corden she "actually had to go to the hospital" following the incident, and her co-star Cruz said she was "really worried" about Chastain at the time (via Independent).
What exactly happened to Chastain on the set of "The 355"? The actress opened up about all the scary details during her conversation with Corden and Cruz.
Jessica Chastain fell and hit her head on the set of The 355
While filming "The 355," Jessica Chastain experienced a scary injury that worried her and frightened her co-stars as well. During an appearance on "The Late Late Show With James Corden" on Wednesday, Chastain revealed all the concerning details about the stunt that went wrong. "I was doing a fight scene and it was on a marble floor. I misjudged. I had fallen and hit my head. I misjudged the distance. I heard a crack," Chastain said (via Yahoo!).
"I hear a crack. Everyone stopped and looked scared, and I was a bit stunned, like, I don't know what is happening," Chastain said. She added, "My stunt double comes up to me, she is French and doesn't speak a lot of English, she just comes up to me and she goes, 'I'm sorry, but I have to put it back in.' And I'm sitting there, I'm like, 'Put what back in? Are my brains outside of my face? What is happening?'" It ended up being a bruise that the stunt double pushed back into Chastain's head.
Apparently the "Scenes from a Marriage" star filmed a few more takes before she eventually went to the hospital to get checked out after her co-star Penélope Cruz convinced her to go. "We convinced you to go to the hospital, because she didn't want to go," Cruz told Corden.
We're glad that Chastain is okay!
