In an Instagram post, Duggar wrote, "She said YES!!!! Hannah, getting to know you for the past year has been so incredible! I can't even find the words to describe it. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me and I cannot wait to marry you. I love you!!"

The photos on the couple's feeds show that Duggar popped the question on a stone-encircled patio area on a meadow near some woods, and presented Wissmann with a diamond ring. Later, they retreated to a cozy private area under a glass geodesic dome and watched fireworks being set off in their honor. Duggar got more than 20,000 likes on the post, including one from his big sister Jinger Duggar Vuolo. Meanwhile, his other sister Jana Duggar wrote, "Congratulations! So excited for you both!"

Wissmann also wrote an engagement announcement of her own, which read, "YES!!!! A thousand times, yes!!! Making memories with you is my favorite and I cannot wait to spend a lifetime making more. You are an answer to prayer, a dream come true, the love of my life and my very best friend. I love you, Jeremiah!"

Jeremiah Duggar is following in his siblings' footsteps

Jeremiah Duggar is the eleventh of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar's 19 children, and one of their second set of twins (via the Duggar Family website). His twin brother, Jedidiah, got married in 2021 to Katey Nakatsu, and they are expecting their first baby in the spring of 2022, In Touch Weekly reported.

The proposal comes just a little over two months after Jeremiah and Wissmann came out publicly as a couple. At the time, Duggar wrote in part, "We are excited to start sharing our story with all of you and to see what God has in store for our future."

As followers of the Duggar's know, the family belongs to a very conservative Christian program that rejects dating in favor of "courtship." The procedure involves supervised outings, the approval of the woman's father, and a goal of marriage (via Today). Jeremiah's married brothers and sisters have followed similar paths, and most have gotten engaged not long after the beginning of the courtship.

No wedding date has been announced, but the Duggar children tend to wed not long after an engagement is announced. No doubt the family is pleased to be able to focus on some happy news after a difficult year that saw oldest son Josh convicted of downloading and possessing child sexual abuse material (via NBC News), and daughter Jana fined for child endangerment related to a babysitting incident, per Us Weekly
