How Kate Middleton Reportedly Feels About Turning 40

Kate Middleton has had a tough couple years, particularly considering her long-held position as England's sweetheart was threatened by revelations from Meghan Markle about an alleged issue between the two women. As OK! Magazine notes, during her explosive Oprah Winfrey interview, Markle faced down accusations she'd instigated a fight with Middleton head on. The former "Suits" star clarified that, actually, it was Middleton who had upset her, not the other way around.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl revealed the Duchess of Cambridge was "mortified" the story had come out, pointing to Middleton's intense privacy about her personal life. "You never hear about her falling out with anyone because she is very careful with how she treats others. So for this story to be circulating is very hard," Nicholl said. Moreover, the Duchess thought she and Markle had sorted everything out, so she was hurt to hear it brought up again, especially since Middleton wasn't allowed to respond.

Thankfully, with Middleton's 40th birthday approaching, she's looking to the future.

Kate Middleton is embracing growing older

According to an insider, who spoke to People, the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, is looking forward to the big 4-0. Middleton's birthday is January 9 but, although it would be a major cause of concern for plenty of women, the beloved royal is reportedly "flourishing" right now. The source confirmed, "She has really come into her own." Further, Middleton is getting ready to one day be queen consort alongside husband Prince William. The couple will gradually take on more duties as reigning ruler Queen Elizabeth continues to be plagued by mysterious health issues. Likewise, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepping down from the royal family left even more work to be done.

Middleton recently hosted her first Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey, in honor of healthcare workers battling the COVID-19 pandemic. She enthused in the accompanying program, "Through our separation from others, we have been reminded just how powerful human connection is to us all. Just how much we need one another. And how loving and feeling a sense of belonging to one another can provide comfort in tough times. The importance of simply being together." Concert attendee Joan Black noted, "We are doing well if that's our future Queen." Middleton is equally busy at home with three young children, all of whom are in school.

As a source close to the family argued, the Duchess is "more and more impressive as time goes on ... She is a focused and professional woman."
