The Bold And The Beautiful Character Deaths That Fans Felt The Most
There are many soap operas on daytime television, but few are as popular and successful as "The Bold and The Beautiful." According to the show's website, it is the most-watched U.S.-produced daytime soap opera and has been on the air since 1987. The show isn't only popular, it is critically acclaimed. "The Bold and The Beautiful" has won 16 Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series.
Over the years, "The Bold and The Beautiful" has featured social issues like child abuse, gender identity, and HIV/AIDS (via Soap Hub). The show has been more than just drama and excitement, it has worked hard to educate its fans on important issues.
While the show has made an effort to spread awareness for important issues, it hasn't completely ditched the aspect of soap operas that fans love the most, drama and surprise deaths (via Soap Opera Network). While fans can't get enough of the drama, they are certainly attached to the characters and sad to see them go when they are killed off. Several deaths still haunt fans of "The Bold and the Beautiful."
The loss of the show's matriarch was felt the most
When it comes to deaths on "The Bold and The Beautiful," none top the death of the family matriarch. Stephanie Forrester was the head of the wealthy Forrester family. She was constantly in the middle of the drama caused by her children, Ridge, Thorne, Kristen, and Felicia (via Soaps In Depth).
Before Forrester bid farewell to her character on the show, she shot and killed someone. In self-defense, of course. However, it wouldn't be a good soap opera if the matriarch didn't end up killing someone, right?
Forrester was diagnosed with lung cancer and passed away in the arms of her daughter-in-law Brooke, with who she had a feud across several seasons, in an episode that aired in November of 2012. While the show would go on without its head of the family, it wasn't the same without Forrester.
While not everyone was a fan of the wealthy Forrester, the death of the show's star was shocking and one that fans have yet to get over (via Showbiz Cheat Sheet). Not to worry; actress Susan Flannery, who played Forrester, is doing just fine.
One cast member was killed twice!
It's hard enough to die once on a soap opera, let alone twice! However, that is exactly the fate Bobbie Eakes' character, Macy Alexander, faced during her time on "The Bold and the Beautiful" (via Showbiz Cheat Sheet). She had an explosive run on the show, finding herself involved in drama with both the Spectra and Forrester families.
In July 2000, she began a feud with Brooke over dating Thorne, the son of the above mentioned Stephanie Forrester. That went just as well as you thought it would. Somehow, the pair of fighting women find themselves in the same car, where it tragically crashes. Brooke was saved, but Macy died on the scene.
Well, at least that's what the writers wanted you to think. According to Soaps In Depth, Macy wasn't dead at all. She would eventually be found, alive and well, in Italy. Of course, that didn't last long, she would eventually fall into a coma and be taken off life-support to die for a second time on the show.
There was a shocking death in the Forrester family
There were several significant others in and out of the Forrester family since the show debuted back in the '80s. However, one of the Forrester children's wives met an unfortunate and shocking end that still has fans talking (via Showbiz Cheat Sheet).
Darla Einstein, played by actress Schae Harrison, was the wife of Thorne Forrester. However, she didn't always have a major role in the show. For a while, she simply played the assistant to major character Sally. Eventually, she would be put in the spotlight when she married Thorne and had his child, Aly.
Darla was one of the show's most shocking deaths. Darla was killed while lending a helping hand (per Soap Central). She went out to help Thorne's niece when she got a call that she needed assistance after getting a flat tire. Of course, this is a soap opera, so that led to her tragic death. She fell into the path of a moving car when trying to help her husband's niece change her flat tire. Heartbreaking!
