The Goop Lab Season 2 - Details We Know So Far

"Goop" as a brand has always been entirely representative of Gwyneth Paltrow's wellness crusade and her willingness to try just about anything in the pursuit of wellbeing. When Netflix released an exclusive series "The Goop Lab" on January 24, 2020, people were given the deep dive into the bizarre Goop world that they didn't realize they needed. Season 1 was met with mixed reviews. While it's undeniable that everyone found it interesting, there was an uproar of people (including gynecologists) outraged by Paltrow encouraging harmful treatments such as, well, vaginal steaming. The Guardian shared a one-star review blasting Paltrow for her perceived ignorance on the show and the lack of representation and diversity on it.

It was unclear whether the show was a success or not. Paltrow and her team definitely polarized viewers between being furious at the misinformation or enjoying the sheer entertainment of watching the cast undergo these wild treatments. Either way, Paltrow and Netflix weren't quite done with "The Goop Lab" ...

When can you expect to stream Season 2?

Almost two years after Season 1's launch, Netflix has confirmed that "The Goop Lab" will return for Season 2 (via Variety). Production still has not begun, and so a release date has not been set either. Given the timing, it seems unlikely that Season 2 would also air in January with that only being two months away as of this writing.

Gwyneth Paltrow will be reclaiming her role as a host of the show as well as an executive producer. Many may have expected Paltrow to potentially sit this one out after the harsh reviews she's received. After Season 1 launched, Paltrow sat down with Variety to share her own thoughts on haters of the show by claiming, "We do what we do in total integrity, and we love what we do. It doesn't even matter, really, that some are trying to get attention for writing about us." Well, viewers may be curious about what content Paltrow could be giving critics to write about in Season 2.

What to expect from Season 2 of The Goop Lab

The Goop Lab is explained by Netflix simply with the description, "Leading with curiosity, Gwyneth Paltrow and her goop team look at psychedelics, energy work and other challenging wellness topics." That hardly prepares you for the journey from Jamaica to Lake Tahoe exploring vampire facials and yoni eggs. So, what could Season 2 possibly cover?

Season 2 is expected to also have six 30-minute episodes that cover a wide range of topics from sex to skincare. The show is likely to have the same breakdown with the team exploring a new issue every episode while sharing bizarre methods and treatments to help in that area. With Season 1 exploring exorcisms, orgasmic meditation, and (as we mentioned) vampiric facials — there's no knowing what bizarre treatments the team will investigate after a year of quarantine. Fans are sure to secretly be hoping for things to get even weirder.

You can watch Goop's second Netflix partnership Sex, Love, and Goop while waiting

Whether you watched in speechless awe or genuinely enjoyed the methods used, the show was a huge success. So much so that Netflix also partnered with Paltrow on a second show titled "Sex, Love, and Goop" that was released on October 21 (via Vanity Fair). With the episodes revolving around sex being the most heavily discussed as a result of "The Goop Lab" Season 1, Gwyneth Paltrow and her team chose to dive right in with a full series described as, "Courageous couples journey toward more pleasurable sex and deeper intimacy with help from Gwyneth Paltrow and a team of experts in this reality series" (via Netflix).

"Sex, Love, and Goop" also featured six 30-minute episodes that each explore a certain couple's sexual journey. The show seems to have been received better than its predecessor, with The New Yorker sharing a reluctantly positive review deeming it "a step in the right direction." You might as well binge-watch the show to keep you occupied with Goop's unique strangeness while waiting for "The Goop Lab" Season 2.
