Is This How Princess Diana Would Really Feel About Meghan And Harry's Life In America?
Princess Diana's tragic death in 1997 shocked the world, and although she's been gone for more than 20 years, many can't help but wonder how she would react to the issues the royal family is facing today. In particular, fans are curious as to what Diana would have thought about the rift between her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, as well as Harry and his wife Meghan Markle officially exiting the firm.
Following Meghan and Harry's departure from the family, the couple sat down for a shocking tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey where they openly criticized the royal lifestyle. Soon after, royal expert Andrew Morton admitted that Diana wouldn't have approved of the Sussexes' actions, per Us Weekly.
"She would have felt that Harry and Meghan probably went nuclear way too soon. Diana spoke to me 10 years after she'd been in the royal family, and that was mainly because her marriage was collapsing. [Harry and Meghan are] a couple who seem very much in love, expecting a second child. They seem to have been fighting yesterday's battles as opposed to looking forward to the future," Morton told the outlet back in April. "It was a damaging interview, because it was the first time probably in British history that a prince of the realm has directly attacked the institution from which he's sprung," Morton added.
However, Morton is singing a different tune when it comes to what Diana would think about Harry and Meghan's life in America.
Expert says Diana would approve of Harry's current lifestyle
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle certainly surprised fans when they announced their exit from the royal family in early 2020. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex later settled down in California, and have been living in America ever since. While Harry's late mother, Princess Diana, may have a lot to say about the events that have transpired in the royal family over the past few years, royal expert Andrew Morton said she would have been over the moon about Harry and Meghan's new life in the United States. "She would be doing cartwheels," the royal biographer told Us Weekly in October 2021. "She'd be thrilled. Seeing that Harry has made himself and Meghan independent humanitarians irrespective of what the palace might say, she would have applauded that," Morton added.
Meanwhile, Harry and Meghan are said to be very happy with their decision to leave the United Kingdom and settle in California. Sources previously told Entertainment Tonight that the couple has "no regrets" when it comes to leaving their royal duties behind in favor of a more quiet life. In addition, they are said to feel "very rewarded" by the work they've been doing with their Archewell Foundation.
It's impossible to know what Diana would really think about Harry and Meghan's current lifestyle. However, she's remembered as a loving mother and would likely be proud of the paths that both of her sons have taken over the years.
