'Grown-Ish' Star Yara Shahidi's Most Iconic Looks

Actress Yara Shahidi is one of the fastest rising young stars in Hollywood. Though the 21-year-old began acting at a young age, her role in "Black-ish" helped launch her to new heights (via IMDb). After starring in the series for a few years, Shahidi's character Zoey Johnson landed her own spinoff show "Grown-ish." The Freeform sitcom follows Zoey as she navigates life as a fashion student, new relationships, and the various struggles of growing up. Aside from featuring romance and comedy, "Grown-ish" boasts amazing fashion as well. This can largely be attributed to Shahidi's own killer style. The starlet is known for her enviable street style, risk-taking red carpet looks, and effortless beauty.

Over the years Shahidi has attended award shows, Met Galas, fashion weeks, and many events promoting her work. While she has an endless supply of top-tier outfits, here are a few of her most iconic looks and memorable fashion moments.

Yara Shahidi is a golden girl

In 2019, Yara Shahidi attended the LACMA Art + Film Gala (via PopSugar). She wore a floor length golden gown with a beautiful fan shaped detailing at the top. Shahidi shined in the Gucci gown. To complete her look, the 21-year-old wore a gold ring and stunning long diamond earrings. For her hair she wore a simple updo and kept her makeup fresh and natural. Considering the rising star was attending an art museum, the sculpture-like nature of the gown helped Shahidi look like art herself.

The "Peter Pan & Wendy" star stepped out in another over-the-top outfit at the 2019 Met Gala (via PopSugar). Inspired by the Camp theme, Shahidi wore a silver bodysuit with gold embellishments, paired with footless tights in the same style, and a black feathery jacket to round out the look. Shahidi's Prada attire certainly stood out from the crowd and won't soon be forgotten.

Yara Shahidi looks so good in a matching set

Despite dazzling in designer gowns year round, Yara Shahidi loves to step out in a matching set as well. In January of 2019, she even experimented with the classic Canadian tuxedo (via Teen Vogue). Shahidi donned a cozy oversized jacket that she buttoned up all the way. The 21-year-old also rolled up the sleeves and wore a white collared shirt under the jacket. Her pants were the exact same pattern and hit right above her ankle. To complete the look, Shahidi wore white heels and white earrings.

That same month, the model stepped out in a plaid matching set. This time, she opted for Thom Browne shorts with a matching suit jacket. Shahidi covered the red, blue, and white suit with a long black puffer jacket and opted for long socks and loafers to help keep her lower half warm. The look was bold considering it was a shorts look in the middle of the winter.

Yara Shahidi is the master of mixing and matching prints

One of the most interesting aspects of Yara Shahidi's style is her consistent departure from the "style rulebook." For instance, Shahidi loves to mix and match patterns and colors that fashionistas wouldn't normally pair together. For example, in May of 2019, the "Grown-ish" star stepped out in floral printed pants, a red top with a purple and gold pattern, and a dark blue jacket with a white emblem pattern (via Teen Vogue). While each of the patterns are wildly different form one another, Shahidi pulls the look together by having gold details throughout the look.

Later that same month, Shahidi mixed more patterns. She paired a blue snakeskin matching pants and jacket set with a multicolored turtleneck. While this look was extremely unconventional, her simple nude heel, low bun and minimal makeup helped to balance out the look. This affinity for patterns can be found in many of her street style looks.

Yara Shahidi loves an outfit change

Yara Shahidi is such a style icon that sometimes one look isn't enough. In 2020, Shahidi was honored with the Trailblazer Award at the Bounce Trumpet Awards for her commitment to using her platform to speak against social and racial injustices (via Red Carpet Fashion Awards). To celebrate this special occasion, the starlet donned two outfits. Her first look was an Alexander McQueen Pre-Fall 2020 babydoll dress with a mock neck. Shahidi paired the orange frock with black knee-high boots that matched the black belt on the dress. For her second look, the actress went for a more artistic statement.
