My Unorthodox Life Season 2 - Details We Know So Far

Fashion designer Julia Haart led a very different life just years ago. She shared her compelling story in a nine-episode Netflix series called "My Unorthodox Life" (per IMDb).

Haart previously lived in an ultra-Orthodox Jewish community that was north of New York City. By her account, Haart found the community stifling from a young age but felt she had no other options. It wasn't until she was 43 and saw what was happening with her own daughter that she decided to escape. "They were doing to her what they had done to me — trying to push her down and mold her into that flat person that they could disappear. I couldn't let that happen," she told New York Times. "I literally packed my [expletive] and walked out the door with her."

Haart put her mind to fashion design and despite the immense obstacles ahead, broke through with a shoe line. That shoe line led to a La Perla opportunity, which in turn led her to meet her current husband, Silvio Scaglia (per SCMP). "My Unorthodox Life" explores Haart's present life as a mom, wife, and CEO.

"My Unorthodox Life" debuted to a mixed reception. While some praised Julia Haart's bravery in telling her story, she was slammed by some for villainizing the Jewish community during an already fragile time when hate crimes were increasing (per CNET).

"Some of the company's biggest reality hits so far have been dating shows such as 'Love is Blind' and 'Too Hot to Handle,' but it's also found success with reality series more similar to 'My Unorthodox Life,' like 'Selling Sunset' and 'Bling Empire,'" Bustle stated.
