Making The Cut Season 3 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far

For 16 long seasons, fashion industry legends Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum helmed the beloved design competition series "Project Runway" (via Refinery29). Despite the show's widespread acclaim, the pair knew it was time to leave their comfort zones in 2018 and pursue a new endeavor.

Though Klum and Gunn left Bravo before hatching a plan for their next project, they found what they were searching for at Amazon Prime Video. The pair became executive producers and hosts of the fashion competition series "Making the Cut" (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Season 1 of the series premiered in 2020 and follows 12 designers competing for a $1 million prize to invest in their business and grow their notoriety. For Gunn, this fresh start came with much more creative freedom. "'Project Runway' is the undergraduate program and 'Making the Cut' is the graduate and PhD program," he said.

The pair enjoyed their new gig so much that they returned for a second season. With Season 2 of "Making the Cut" officially over, fans are wondering if there will be a third season. Here's what we know about Season 3.

When will Season 3 of 'Making the Cut' premiere?

Season 1 of "Making the Cut" premiered exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on March 27, 2020 (via IMDb). For the series premiere, the streaming giant dropped two episodes, each about an hour long. The next eight episodes aired over the next four weeks, two at a time. While Season 1 took place between March and April of 2020, Season 2 didn't start until July 2021. Following the format of its predecessor, this season dropped two episodes a week but for only four weeks.

At the moment, Amazon hasn't revealed whether or not Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum will have another go at their new series (via The Cinemaholic). However, if there is a third season, it will likely drop in either spring or summer 2022. The two-episode-a-week format for four or five weeks will probably stay in effect as well. If this is the case, we will hopefully hear from Amazon at least two months before the new season premiere, as we did for Season 2 (via Deadline).

Who will be in the cast of 'Making the Cut' Season 3?

The best part of the Amazon Prime Video series "Making the Cut" is that it features the iconic Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum. Seeing as this dynamic duo executive-produces the series and co-hosted the first two seasons (via The Hollywood Reporter), they will certainly be returning if given the opportunity. If the streaming giant green-lights Season 3, model Winnie Harlow and Moschino Creative Director Jeremy Scott may return as judges as well (via Good Housekeeping). The show will also feature many celebrity guest judges; Season 2 included designer Prabal Gurung and stylist Shinoa Turini.

Finally, of course, the series will feature a whole new set of talented designers and entrepreneurs. "Making the Cut" selects established designers who are looking to take their businesses to the next level with professional guidance and national exposure (via Bustle). The lucky contestants are selected from around the world, and each has a unique perspective and skillset (via Gold Derby).

If there is a Season 3 of "Making the Cut," Amazon will undoubtedly choose another group of insanely talented designers to compete for the $1 million prize. Stay tuned.
