Is Kanye West Selling His Wyoming Ranch At A Huge Loss?
Apart from being a rapper, record producer, clothing designer, and brief presidential candidate, it turns out that Kanye West is also attempting to become a real estate tycoon. Along with his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian, West has purchased properties and land in California, Florida, New York, and Wyoming for business and pleasure in the past decade, per House Beautiful. "Anybody who's been to any of my cribs knows that I'm super into developing homes," West told radio presenter Charlamagne tha God in a 2018 interview. "I'm going to be one of the biggest real estate developers of all time, like what Howard Hughes is to aircraft and what Henry Ford was to cars."
Given the vast amount of land and properties that the former couple share, likely the most difficult part of their divorce will involve negotiations regarding ownership of their real estate properties. According to House Beautiful, West currently owns a plot of undeveloped land in La Quinta, California, a building in Calabasas that serves as Yeezy headquarters, a 320-acre parcel of land in Calabasas (near the Hidden Hills estate he previously shared with Kardashian, though she now lives there with his children), and a sprawling Wyoming property.
West is selling his Wyoming ranch at a $3 million loss
On Monday, October 11, 2021, People reported that Kanye West had listed one of his many real estate properties. In 2019, West purchased a sprawling, 4,000-acre ranch in Cody, Wyoming for $14 million, according to TMZ. Now, per People, West is listing this property for $11 million, which means that, if the property is purchased for the asking price, West could stand to lose $3 million. When West purchased the ranch, it consisted of eight lodging units, two freshwater lakes, a restaurant, an event center, meeting facilities, and plenty of shelter for the animals on-site, including horse barns and corrals. The property is also quite beautiful, to boot. Per People, the ranch is 52 miles from Yellowstone National Park and boasts panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains.
West referred to the estate as the "Yeezy Campus" and previously revealed to GQ in 2020 that he had begun working on a project that would be approximately the "size of a spaceship." He also noted that he had begun planning the building of dome-like dwellings on the property, and even enlisted esteemed architects for the project.
Despite the fact that these plans will not be realized on this particular property, West might be focusing his energy on revamping his other Wyoming property in Greybull or his most recent real estate acquisition in Malibu.
