Why Drew Barrymore's Interview With Dakota Johnson Has Twitter In A Frenzy

Drew Barrymore has had one of the most successful careers in Hollywood, having been a child actor who got her big break after she stole hearts across the world with her role in the classic Steven Speilberg film, "E.T.: The Extraterrestrial" (via IMDb). She went on to star in other wildly popular films and TV shows, including "Charlie's Angels," "50 First Dates," "The Santa Clarita Diet," and more. However, Barrymore has proven time and time again that she's not just a one-trick pony when it comes to working in the entertainment industry.

On top of her impressive acting resume, the "Going the Distance" star has also served as an executive producer on many of the productions she's starred in, is a best-selling author, and has a popular home decor and kitchenware line available at Walmart. And in September 2020, Barrymore added yet another credential to her ever-growing resume: daytime talk show host.

Despite launching smack-dab in the middle of the pandemic, "The Drew Barrymore Show" had a successful run during its inaugural season, and in July, CBS had announced that the quirky yet relatable talk show would be making its way to living rooms across the country for a second season in the fall (via Deadline), with celebs like Adam Lambert, Jennifer Aniston, and Dakota Johnson slated to appear on the show (via All American Speakers). Johnson appeared on the talk show on October 7, and her conversation with Barrymore has fans in a tizzy.

Dakota Johnson's interview with Drew Barrymore left Twitter speechless

"50 Shades of Grey" star Dakota Johnson made a guest appearance on the October 7 episode of "The Drew Barrymore Show," and the interview had jaws dropping to the floor after Barrymore brought up Johnson's infamous "Actually, that's not the truth, Ellen" interview. For a quick refresher, fans and critics of Ellen DeGeneres alike were completely taken aback after Johnson appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" in November 2019 and called the longtime daytime talk show host out on lying to her about "not being invited" to Johnson's 30th birthday party on national television (you can watch the cringe-worthy interview here).

"People have gotten in trouble for claiming not being invited to your parties," the "Santa Clarita Diet" star quipped to Johnson, referencing the infamous interview. "That was amazing, by the way, like, amazing," Barrymore added, while Johnson grinned from ear-to-ear (via the Daily Mail). Of course, Twitter went wild for the interaction between the two stars, with one person writing, "Drew Barrymore and Dakota Johnson's faces when Drew brought up the Ellen interview is sending me lmaooooo."

More and more Twitter users chimed in with similar sentiments, with one writing, "Dakota and Drew are the aunties that you want to listen to during Thanksgiving because they keep dissing other people as long as you're not their target," while another simply stated, "I believe in Dakota Johnson supremacy."
