Jennifer Lopez's Preferred Fashion Style Is Not What You Would Expect

Ever since Jennifer Lopez burst on the Hollywood scene in the late 1980s, the Bronx native has had an enviable style. Throughout her decades-long career as an actress and musician, Lopez has had a number of iconic looks (via Harper's Bazaar), from the iconic plunging neckline Versace dress she wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards to the yellow Giambattista Valli gown she wore at the 2016 Golden Globes to the silver shimmering Versace gown and matching headpiece she wore at the 2019 Met Gala. In addition to having many stand-out looks, the "Selena" star has a few staple pieces. Lopez loves a crop top, big pair of hoops, and a matching set (via InStyle).

Considering her top-notch personal style, it's no surprise that designers and brands flock to the fashionista. Lopez recently paired with the American Luxury design house Coach to create the #CoachxJLo collection (via People). The singer shot an ad campaign video for the collaboration, which revealed some surprising insights into her fashion sense.

Jennifer Lopez likes easy fashion looks

In an ad campaign video for Jennifer Lopez's latest collaboration with the brand Coach, the 52-year-old interviews herself (via People). J.Lo asks herself how many bling cups she has, what's her favorite of the songs she's recorded, and more. In a subsequent video for the campaign, she dives into fashion. Lopez is asked to sum up her personal style in a few words, to which she responds, "timeless, sexy, classic and tomboy." She also shares that she enjoys wearing "Easy, cool pieces with a bit of attitude." This comes as a surprise, because Lopez is known for her killer red carpet style. She's often spotted wearing stunning gowns with deep necklines and high slits.

However, the megastar revealed that she prefers a more simple ensemble. She explained in a statement about the collaboration, "Coach and I have a lot in common. Mostly we believe in the power of being real — in authenticity. This collection is so Coach and so me. It's wearable, and a little bit glamorous –– but also sporty. It's that mix that really excites me. It's the unedited, unfiltered, raw version of us." If you're hoping to channel your inner Jenny from the block, you can shop the collection starting October 6.
