What We Know About Cheryl Cole And Prince Harry

In the years before his marriage to the Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry was romantically linked to a string of potential celebrity love interests, including the British pop sensation Cheryl Cole.

As The Independent reports, comedian Jimmy Carr revealed details of the time he once tried to set the former Girls Aloud star up with the Duke of Sussex during an appearance on the BBC's "The One Show." Speaking to hosts Harry Judd and Lauren Laverne, Carr explained how the attempted set-up had taken place during a party at a special Diamond Jubilee Concert in London back in 2012.

"Prince Harry had just done this interview at the time saying, 'Nobody wants to be my girlfriend, because no one wants the pressure.' Then I said to him that I had been teasing Cheryl all day saying that I'm going to match-make you two, would you mind coming over," Carr recalled.

Speaking on "The One Show," the comedian went on to disclose that Prince Harry replied by saying, "Yeah, great, have it!" However, things didn't end up working out. "Course he had the last laugh, turns out there was a lot of pressure being his wife. I think Cheryl dodged a bullet there," Carr added.

Prince Harry and Cheryl have since both moved on

As The Metro reported, Jimmy Carr had been invited by the royal family to host Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee Concert outside Buckingham Palace in June 2012. The event was held to celebrate her 60 years on the throne which she was originally ascended to back in February 1952. The commemorative concert was also attended by a lineup of celebrity performers, including Cheryl, as well as thousands of spectators.

According to The Sun, Cheryl moved on from Carr's attempted set-up with Prince Harry and tied the knot with businessman Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini two years after the Diamond Jubilee concert in July 2014. However, Cheryl and her second husband Fernandez-Versini eventually split in 2016.

Per the BBC, the Duke of Sussex married his now-wife Meghan Markle in May 2018. The pair got hitched during a beautiful ceremony at Windsor Castle that was attended by senior members of the royal family and a lineup of A-list guests. The royal nuptials were watched by millions around the world and tens of thousands of well-wishers who had gathered outside the grounds of Windsor Castle on the couple's big day.
