Gordon Ramsay Reveals The Best Meal He Ever Cooked Was For This Royal

Everyone's favorite foodie father figure Gordon Ramsay may put on a show for cameras, but he's actually a sweetheart. His outlook and expertise have led him to becoming one of the most celebrated chefs in the world, and he continues to give back. He's paid for people's weddings, for example, but he isn't perfect. The king of food himself still makes some common kitchen mistakes despite his decades of experience.

Gordon Ramsay's transformation into the chef, celebrity, and person he is today may not have happened overnight, but the fun things he's been able to do since reaching his level of success are inspiring. He started by achieving a degree in hotel management in 1987 and then entering the food industry to gain experience (via Britannica). It was in London that he trained under esteemed professional chefs and gained the skills necessary to later open his own restaurants, all leading to the culinary giant we see on television today.

Throughout his years of cooking, Ramsay has cooked for some of the biggest names in the world, and it's one of these big names to which Ramsay attributes the best meat he ever cooked.

Gordon Ramsay remembers making Princess Diana one specific dish

Gordon Ramsay cooking for the royal family shouldn't come as a surprise, but it is particularly fascinating to know that Ramsay thinks the best meal he ever cooked was for none other than Princess Diana of Wales. According to Delish, Ramsay was asked about the best meal he'd cooked on his latest series, "Gordon, Gino and Fred Go Greek!," to which he said, "Man, I think cooking for Lady Di once."

Ramsay answered this while looking at the sunset on the island of Santorini, which he compared to Diana's own beauty. "Oh, beautiful," he said, when asked if she was a kind person. "I mean, here is renowned as the supermodel of the islets — Santorini — and she, by far, was one the most gracious members of the royal family I've ever met," he added (via Marie Claire).

The story goes that Diana ate at Ramsay's restaurant in the '90s before her untimely death in 1997. According to Delish, Ramsay once said in 2016 that he remembered Diana eating one particular dish of his: his pressed leek terrine and sea bass.

We can't imagine cooking for Diana, but if we know anything about Ramsay from his television appearances, he definitely put his heart into the dish that he made for her.
