The Biggest Problem Dancing With The Stars Fans Have With The New Season
"Dancing With The Stars" Season 30 is underway, and this year's crop of new contestants is bringing the heat to the ballroom. The cast includes Amanda Kloots, Jimmie Allen, Melanie C., Olivia Jade Giannulli, Brian Austin Green, Melora Hardin, Iman Shumpert, Mike "The Miz" Mizanin, Matt James, Jojo Siwa, and more (via Good Housekeeping). After the Season 30 cast was announced, fans had a lot of opinions about the stars competing for the Mirror Ball Trophy. One of the most controversial castings was that of Giannulli.
The social media influencer first made national headlines when her parents, actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli were arrested in connection with the college admissions scandal in 2019. The duo eventually served jail time for paying $500,000 to ensure that Olivia and her sister gained admission into the University of Southern California. "I'm not saying she needs to be punished the rest of her life, but she definitely doesn't need to be rewarded with a TV gig," one fan tweeted.
In addition, the casting of Broadway star Kloots and "Dance Moms" alum Siwa also had fans a bit annoyed as the pair have professional dance training and would have an edge over the rest of the competition. However, the biggest complaint with "DWTS" Season 30 seems to be about host Tyra Banks.
Fans still angry about Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews' firing
According to Yahoo, after the first "Dancing With The Stars" Season 30 promos began airing, fans took to social media to share their thoughts. While many were excited about the news of the show returning and even the multiple cast members who were confirmed, others spoke out in criticism of the show's new host, Tyra Banks. The former "America's Next Top Model" star was hired to host the show as well as given executive producer credits after the series opted to fire longtime host Tom Bergeron and his co-host Erin Andrews before Season 29.
Some fans even called out the fact that Banks makes multiple wardrobe changes during the show, and enters the ballroom like it's a fashion runway. "Bring Tom & Erin back ... they made a great team !!!," one person wrote. "Why does [Tyra] think that she has to change her gowns so many times ... the shows not about her it's about the dancers ... sad!," another said. "Look, I did not enjoy last season. I don't know most of the so-called stars. I really REALLY miss Tom and Erin. And I did not take to Tyra at all. The show does not work for me and I've watched every single episode since day 1. Very sad," a third person declared.
Meanwhile, "DWTS" producer Andrew Llinares claims that Bergeron and Andrews were replaced to keep the show fresh and reaching a new audience after over a decade on air, per TVLine.
