Which Professional Dancer Has Won DWTS The Most?
"Dancing With the Stars" has been entertaining fans since 2005. The very first season of the show featured just six stars competing for the mirror ball trophy and lasted only six weeks until "General Hospital" actress Kelly Monaco was crowned the first-ever winner of the hit series with her partner, Alec Mazo. Since that time, many celebrities have tried their hand at ballroom dancing, and some of the professional dancers have even become breakout stars in their own right, per Gold Derby.
For instance, Mark Ballas became a fan-favorite pro during his "DWTS" run. Despite getting far into the competition on many occasions, Ballas only won the trophy twice with partners Kristi Yamaguchi and Shawn Johnson. Cheryl Burke is another familiar face to longtime viewers. Burke has appeared on more seasons of the show than any other dancer (via Us Weekly). However, she's only won the competition two times with partners Drew Lachey and Emmitt Smith. Val Chmerkovskiy, Julianne Hough, Kym Johnson Herjavek, and Peta Murgatroyd have also all won two mirror ball trophies during their time on the show.
However, there is one professional dancer that has completely dominated his time as a pro.
Derek Hough has won more Mirror Ball Trophies than any other pro
Gold Derby reported that fan-favorite dancer Derek Hough is by far the most winningest pro in "Dancing With the Stars" history. Although Hough no longer appears as a dancer on the series, he's not done with "DWTS" just yet. In fact, he's currently serving as a judge for the show. Hough is likely the biggest breakout star of the series and has earned his fame by winning six seasons of the competition.
Hough previously took home the mirror ball trophy in Season 7 with Brooke Burke, Season 10 with Nicole Scherzinger, Season 11 with Jennifer Grey, Season 16 with partner Kellie Pickler, Season 17 alongside "Glee" star Amber Riley, and in Season 21 with Bindi Irwin.
While it appears that Hough is finished with his performing days on "DWTS," he hasn't ruled out returning to win his seventh trophy (via Us Weekly). "When Tom Brady won a seventh Super Bowl, I was like, 'Oh no, do I need to go for seven here?" the dancer joked. "No, I think — who knows?" Hough continued. "I never say never, but for right now, I'm looking forward to going back as a judge."
While fans would likely welcome Hough back to the dance floor, they're also happy to see him at the judges' table.
