Barron Trump's New High School Has A Secret Connection To His Dad
Barron Trump, Donald Trump's youngest son, has enrolled at Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida. According to People, the private school announced, "We look forward to welcoming him into our school and community."
The school's Director of Advancement, Scott Siegfried, went on to tell The Palm Beach Post that this is the first time the school has dealt with Secret Service. "They want to have little impact on our day-to-day operations. They've done this for other former presidents' kids. They're fantastic."
Previously, Barron attended St. Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac, Maryland. He was the first presidential child to go there, as the tradition has been to go to Sidwell Friends, a Quaker school located in Bethesda, Maryland, and in Washington, D.C., that was founded in 1883. He is also "all into sports" and fluent in English and Slovene, since his mother, former First Lady Melania Trump, is Slovenian (via Town & Country).
Barron Trump is attending Oxbridge Academy, since the family now lives in Florida
The choice for Barron to attend Oxbridge Academy has to do with the fact that the Trump family moved to Florida, after former President Donald Trump lost to President Joe Biden in the 2020 election. While they own a number of homes, they opted for West Palm Beach and, specifically, Mar-a-Lago — a members-only club with 126 rooms, private beaches, tennis courts, croquet lawns, and a 20,000-square-foot ballroom. As reported by inews.co.uk, Trump bought the property in 1985.
During his time out of office, Trump has been busy challenging election results, writing "the book of all books," dealing with a criminal investigation, launching 45Office.com, and making more public appearances (via The Week). After U.S. troops pulled out of Afghanistan and the Taliban took over, Trump also said that President Biden should "resign in disgrace," and there have already been rumors that Trump is open to running for presidency again in 2024.
What is Barron Trump like?
Barron William Trump, born on March 20, 2006, is used to living a life of luxury. He prefers a suit and is "not a sweatpants child," and while living at New York's Trump Tower, he had a whole floor to himself. Over the years, it has been said that he enjoys planes and helicopters, being creative, and golfing (via Biography).
When he was younger, Barron went to Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York, which is also where writer Herman Melville and actress Sarah Michelle Gellar went, as reported by Showbiz Cheat Sheet.
Additionally, he played for DC United and Arlington Soccer Association teams and was "not as happy as he could be," during the pandemic, as he had to miss out on school and sports. There have even been rumors that Barron has a secret video gaming profile, which states that he likes K-pop and anime (via scmp.com).
What is Oxbridge Academy like?
According to People, the school was founded in 2011, by William "Bill" Koch. He estimates that he invested over $75 million into and gives millions more each year (via The Palm Beach Post).
His father, Fred C. Koch, was able to go to MIT, due to "the generosity of a local businessman," so "Oxbridge Academy and its groundbreaking need-based financial aid program is Mr. Koch's way of repaying that act of kindness."
Bill himself graduated from MIT with a doctoral degree in chemical engineering and with honors and then went on to serve on the boards of different schools. He says, "Most schools are run for the benefit of the ruling elite or for the teachers union. They're not for the benefit of the students. I put a motto in: Students come first, parents come second, teachers and coaches come third, and support staff come last in terms of priority. All are necessary."
Who is William 'Bill' Koch?
William "Bill" Koch is the brother of Charles and David Koch, who are "Republican mega-donors." In addition to starting Oxbridge Academy, Bill also founded Oxbow Corp., a petroleum coke and sulphur products company, lives in Palm Beach, and is worth $1.9 billion, as stated by Forbes.
In 2016, Charles and David were not sure about supporting Trump, but Bill, who is no longer part of Koch industries, hosted a fundraiser for Trump (via Fortune), and when listing out the billionaires who donated to Trump's 2020 presidential campaign, Forbes named Bill's wife, Bridget Koch, with a net worth of $1.5 billion and a contribution of $25,000.
Barron Trump, who is 15 years old and will be part of the class of 2024, is attending Oxbridge Academy for a total tuition cost of $34,800, which will include meals, snacks, textbooks, learning support services, and college counseling services.
