Of All Of Kate Middleton's Looks, This Stands Above The Rest
Kate Middleton is known for her pretty and polished style, and over the years, she has worn (and re-worn) some incredible looks. Which one is her best, most fashionable moment ever, though?
Well, there is the baby blue Jenny Packham gown, which is covered in gorgeous embellishments and which was seen on her at the Palladium Theatre in London in 2017. There are several ensembles by Alexander McQueen, such as a white dress she was spotted in back in 2012, as well as again at the 2020 BAFTAs. Another memorable dress is a sparkly red ensemble by Needle & Thread, worn to a reception at Buckingham Palace (via Harper's Bazaar).
There are, of course, all of Middleton's exquisite coats and coat dresses and their matching fascinators, and two examples include a blue look spotted at Westminster Abbey in 2019, as well as a red Catherine Walker coat and fascinator in 2020 (via Marie Claire). But of all her stunning looks, this ensemble of Middleton's stands out from the crowd.
Her top look was actually worn while she visited Guinness in Ireland
So what is Kate Middleton's top look of all time (not counting her wedding dress, which is in a category all on its own)? That would be a green midi dress by The Vampire's Wife.
Known as the Falconetti dress, the Duchess of Cambridge wore this stunner in Dublin, Ireland, while visiting the Guinness Storehouse with Prince William (via Hello Magazine). While there, The Duke of Cambridge said, "We are retracing the footsteps of my grandmother, who was shown how to pour the perfect pint here in 2011. Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you, it is not often that I find myself following the Queen to a pub" (via Evening Standard).
The dress' ruffle sleeves, silk metallic chiffon fabric, three-quarter length, and flouncy skirt all add to its appeal and its flattering fit. In fact, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got married, three different guests wore this look to their wedding: Sara Parker Bowles, Charlotte Riley, and Olivia Holt, as reported by Tatler. The most striking part of this piece, though, is that color. Seeing it on such a pretty dress, all while Middleton enjoyed some Guinness beer, made it even more memorable.
It was in a gorgeous green color, which she wears regularly
Middleton looks great in emerald green and opts for it often, as pointed out by the Kate Middleton Style Blog, and there are examples that go beyond The Vampire's Wife's Falconetti dress.
For instance, in 2017, The Duchess of Cambridge wore a long-sleeved, lacy green gown to a National Portrait Gallery gala, which was designed by Temperley London. This year, when she attended the Wimbledon women's final, she was seen in another green dress, and this one was the Denver Dress by Emilia Wickstead. Earlier this month, she re-wore a green Erdem Allie coat, while at an event for Generation Earthshot.
And, of course, Middleton always shows off some amazing looks in this color on St. Patrick's Day, when she hands shamrocks out to Irish Guards. Some examples include an Emilia Wickstead coat dress in 2012, the Hobbs London Persephone trench coat in 2014, and a coat by Catherine Walker in 2018, all via Kate Middleton Style Blog.
And it was named the Dress of the Decade by Vogue
We are not alone in calling the Falconetti dress Middleton's best look, either: This outfit is always on roundups of this royal's best looks, and it was even named the "Dress of the Decade" by Vogue.
The Vampire's Wife, which is the brand of this piece and which was founded by Susie Cave, is known for its retro glamour and has been worn by numerous stars. For instance, Kate Moss described it as luxe "Little House on the Prairie" dresses, and Florence Welch said, "They make you look like you're practicing witchcraft in a very romantic cult."
Refinery29 reported last year that The Vampire's Wife dresses were available to one and all, due to a collaboration with H&M ... collabs that usually sell out super quickly. Still, this meant that people had the chance to get their hands on the garment that beautifully shows off the gothic Victorian style, that has been seen on Princess Beatrice, Cate Blanchett, and Jennifer Aniston.
Plus, at the time of writing this, The Vampire's Wife website has one more of these emerald dresses available for $2,236, and the brand offers it in other stunning colors, such as silver, gold, burgundy, candy pink, and black velvet.
