Camila Cabello Shares Inspiring Message About Body Image
Camila Cabello just wants to embrace her real body. In the past, the "Havana" singer has been the subject of body shaming. In June, photos of Cabello in a swimsuit on a beach in Miami, Florida, were snapped by the paparazzi and quickly circulated around the internet. Though the singer didn't directly reference the unflattering photos, she did post an Instagram story a few days later, thanking her fans for their support. It's likely that the singer was referencing comments like, "i must defend camila cabello on the internet from body-shamers bc i am a decent human being," as one fan wrote on Twitter, according to Us Weekly.
Despite very public experiences with body shaming, Cabello has not let the haters ruin the positive relationship that she maintains with her body. Apparently, Cabello's body positivity has made quite the impression on her boyfriend, Shawn Mendes. Last year, Mendes spoke to British GQ about how Cabello's relationship with her body transformed the way he felt about his body. "[She's] so strong, so clear and confident with her [body] and so articulate and empathetic about other people's," he told the outlet. "It really changed my view of mine. It really changed my life."
On Friday, Cabello had to shut down body shamers once again.
Cabello is happy to embrace her 'real' body
Singer-songwriter Camila Cabello just wanted to go for a run in the park. During her workout session, paparazzi had been busy snapping photos of Cabello jaunting through the park in a sports bra and pants, according to People. Cabello posted a Tik Tok video in response to the photos, showing her exposed stomach and reiterating how much she loved her body. "I was just running in the park minding my own business trying to be fit, trying to keep it healthy," Cabello says in the Tik Tok video. "And I am wearing a top that shows my belly, and I wasn't tucking it in. Because I was running and existing like a normal person that doesn't tuck it in all the time and I was like, 'Damn.' But then I reminded myself being at war with your body is so last season."
Cabello is grateful for her real body — cellulite and all. "I am grateful for this body that lets me do what I need to do," Cabello said in the Tik Tok video. "We are real women with curves and cellulite and stretch marks and fat. And we gotta own that, baby."
