Olympian Grace McCallum's Net Worth Might Surprise You
The 2021 Olympics are approaching fast and the U.S. Gymnastic team is gearing up for their long trek to Tokyo (via New York Times). Of the thirty-three sports featured at the games, the women's gymnastics section is always one of the most highly-anticipated events. During the last Olympics, the women's team — Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Laurie Hernandez, and Madison Kocian — took home the gold at the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro (via ABC News).
This time around Simone Biles and a new set of women will compete to defend the U.S.'s longstanding title (via Time). The new members of Team USA include Jade Carey and Mykayla Skinner, who will compete in special individual apparatus events, and Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Grace McCallum, who will compete in the team event. Each of the six women headed to Tokyo is wildly talented and extremely hardworking, incoming freshman McCallum is certainly one to watch.
Grace McCallum may be young but she is a veteran athlete
At just eighteen years old, Grace McCallum is the youngest woman to compete on Team USA at the 2021 Olympics (via Time). The Minnesota native started her career competing as a junior gymnast at the 2017 U.S. Classic (via Exact Net Worth). The athlete finished at 3rd place in the all-around and returned to the competitor in 2018 as a senior. Her impressive gymnast skills landed McCallum a spot in the 2018 Pacific Rim Gymnastics Championships, where she helped her team win a gold medal.
McCallum's career gained traction when she competed in the World Gymnastics Championships in 2018 and 2019. The star took home the top prize in the 2018 competition and helped the U.S. team take home their fifth consecutive World team title in 2019 (via Twin City Twisters). In 2021, McCallum returned to the U.S. Classic and placed fourth in the all-around (NBC Olympics).
After many years of competing in elite gymnastic competitors and taking home gold medals and top titles, McCallum has amassed a net worth of about $700,000 dollars as of 2021 (via Life and Style Magazine). However, that amount is sure to increase after the rising star makes her Olympics debut.
