Jim Parsons became famous for his role as Sheldon Cooper on the hit series "The Big Bang Theory." But while Sheldon struggled when it came to matters of the heart, Parsons was lucky enough to meet his match, Todd Spiewak, 20 years ago. Spiewak earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from Boston University in 1999 and went on to work as an art director for clients including The New York Times, American Express, and Barnes & Noble (per Famous Birthdays). He met Parsons in 2002. In a September 2020 interview with Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Parsons shared, "This was a blind date set up by two friends of ours, one that was very close to me, Tammy who I went to grad school with, and [Spiewak's] boss."

The two immediately hit it off and it was Spiewak who encouraged Parsons to come out to his family soon after they started dating. "No offense to the lovely men I dated before Todd, but somewhere deep inside," Parsons told Variety, "I immediately knew that there was no choice left but to deal with this, because to not let them in on this person I had met was to officially start putting up these lifelong barriers."

The couple eventually tied the knot in 2017 at the Rainbow Room in New York City (per Pop Sugar) in front of guests including Parsons' "Big Bang" love interest Mayim Bialik

Jim and Todd are also producing partners

In addition to being spouses, Todd Spiewak and Jim Parsons are also producing partners with their own production company, That's Wonderful Productions. The company is behind hit shows such as "Young Sheldon," "Call Me Kat," and "Special."

The couple also co-produced the film "A Boy Like Jake," which featured Parsons and Claire Danes as a couple raising a small boy who may be transgender (per IMDb). Parsons admitted that both acting and producing in the movie was a challenge, and he leaned on Spiewak for support (per CBS News). In fact, Parsons relies on his husband to keep him organized and on schedule.

"His role in my life even beyond just our loving relationship," Parsons told The HFPA In Conversation podcast per Cheat Sheet. "Maybe a lot of couples understand this too. I can't schedule anything without Todd. It's not my part of the relationship. If I schedule something on my own, say yes, I will do that interview at one o'clock that day, inevitably he has to go behind me and go, 'No, Jim can't do that that day. We've got whatever."

Parsons added, "I am very grateful for his presence in that way. In that way, and many others yes, he is definitely an angel for me"
