Here's Why The Spice Girls Just Reunited
The idea of a Spice Girls reunion, whatever its form, comes as very exciting news to fans of the iconic British girl band, and this Pride Month, the girls are getting back together for a very important cause. According to People, Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, and Geri Halliwell are reuniting with their fellow former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, to help promote her specially designed range of Pride t-shirts that aim to help combat homelessness among LGBTQ+ youth.
In a video posted on the official Spice Girls Instagram account, each member of the legendary group — Scary Spice, Posh Spice, Ginger Spice, Baby Spice, and Sporty Spice — posed wearing t-shirts from Victoria's 2021 Pride collection that read, "Proud and wannabe your lover."
An accompanying caption for the campaign video also read, "100% of the proceeds go to the brilliant @aktcharity to continue funding the wonderful work they do to combat youth homelessness in the LGBTQ+ community. #Pride2021 #FriendshipNeverEnds" (via Instagram).
Victoria Beckham revealed why Pride Month is important to her
Elsewhere, Victoria Beckham also uploaded the same video to her own Instagram account, with an additional caption that outlined why Pride Month is so important to her.
"Pride to me is a celebration of being completely yourself and this year's T-shirt is a reminder of that. The Spice Girls really championed accepting yourself and others, being kind, having fun and just living your best life!" Victoria wrote. "The LGBTQ+ community is so close to my heart and I'm so proud to be supporting Pride 2021 with the girls and akt again this year," the former Spice Girl added.
According to People, this isn't the first time Victoria has teamed up with akt, and the singer-turned-fashion designer has worked with the organization twice before. However, this particular campaign video marks the first time she has incorporated her fellow Spice Girls bandmates with her work for the charity.
